How do you sleep best? Super uncomfortable...on my back?
posted 29th Jan
I can't sleep hardly at all anymore. My belly is not a big as some peoples gets but it's pretty out there, I will be 35 weeks Friday, and I just am so uncomfortable ...I know still 5 more to go. But I am wondering is it ok for me to knowingly lay and sleep on my back, everytime I lay on my side, I either start having contractions, or a whole lot of pressure and pain where my hips, and legs connect to one another and it's really painful, I can halfway lay on my belly comfortably but not for long. It's beginning to get to bad, and the only thing that I know for sure that has been comfortable is laying on my back :/ I never used to be able to but now it's as though it doesn't hurt my back, and I can go right to sleep. Will I hurt my baby doing this? I do have a ton of pillows, and a giant pregnancy pillow that I sleep with but nothing is helping :/. Any advice please O.!!!

It's perfectly safe, I don't see how it couldn't be safe either.:-/

I would lay on my side trying to sleep on my belly. My ex's back was perfect height to rest my belly on

I think its just going to depend who u ask.. one of my doctors said not to because there are blood vessels that can be restricted by the weight of your uterus cutting off supply to the placenta and then my other doctor said it was fine so I stay off my back just to be safe.

I was afraid of that :/ a girl who tries to "scare" me said that I would cut all blood supply to the baby off and that pretty much she would never dream of hurting her baby like that. Ughhh I just wanna sleep good!

I dont think the chances of it actually happening are that great if one doctor said it was fine its just not something I want to risk just in case. Have you tried using a body pillow to put between your legs and rest your belly on? Im only 27 weeks but the odd night I am uncomfortable it helps alot.

Yes add pillows!!! If you don't have a body pillow use one between your legs and one to "cuddle" with.

i start on my side but since about 30weeks i wake up and ive been sleeping flat on my back, it too is the only comfy position for me, i also slept alot on my back with first preg and all was aok, well except when it made me dizzy :-) . i know how u feel , i havent slept in weeks even thi im totally exhausted, im almost 39wks now and praying this little bubba decides to make an appearance sooner rather than later, i just want to be comfortable again :-) my doc said if u can avoid it try not to sleep on back but if it is the only way to get sleep than just do it . It so hard to know cos hear so many conflicting opinions. hope u manage to gt some sleep soon :-)

I can so sympathise, I am a belly sleeper and couldn't do it from about 20 weeks, had to sleep on my side, my back was uncomfortable and I was told that lying on my back COULD cut off the blood supply because of the weight of bump but I don't think its a big no no.
By the time I got to 42 weeks I was so uncomfortable but I learnt to sleep on my side, only because I am a worrier so didn't want to take the risk.
I had more trouble getting to sleep because of my partners snoring!

I had no choice but to do this, they had me on monitors for 3 days! and wouldn't let me get up while I was in labour

Your body will tell you if its bad..literally when that happens you wake up in a cold sweat barely able to breath(hyperventilating type breathing) its scary butits your bodys way of waking you up, so unless your waking up to that every 5 mins you are good....I could sleep on my back my entire pregnancy with my first, couldn't hardly even sit back too far with my last..my doc said its all about how far back the baby is or something like that..like m son and uterus were kinda pushed in the back..
