So, I found out today that I guy I had been sleeping with has slept with a girl that has herpes! NOT COOL! He neglected to tell me this and now I am freaking out!


BUT, is it possible to sleep with someone who doesn't have an outbreak and NOT get herpes? I am clueless when it comes to this.

YES, I will be going to the doctor, but just wondering if anyone has some answers.

Did you use a condom? Herpes is basically just like pregnancy. If you don't use protection there's always that change you can catch them.

I'm not sure if it's herpes but I think after you test, it takes six months for the results t come back.

No, there has been times we didn't.

Even if you used condoms, you can still get herpes depending on where the location of the outbreaks is. He might or might not have gotten it from her. Someone does not have to have an active outbreak to pass it, just the virus shedding can pass it. If you get tested you should have your results within a week or 2 usually. If I were you I'd be googling the smurf out of HSV I & HSV II so you have an idea of how long it can stay dormant before a first outbreak occurs, etc.

I think you have much less of a chance of getting it if they didnt have an outbreak because I know my sex ED teacher (yes this is a little weird that she told us) had herpes and she was also trying for a baby with her husband and she said that as long as she took her medication that stopped her from having an outbreak the chances of passing it to him where very small.

Nah...you can get a blood test done and have the results back in a week tops.

I had a patient who had herpes and she didn't want her husband to know. Sad.
