In my opinion, if I'm paying you to provide childcare for my kid, then I would expect you to respect what I ask you to do for them. If you have a contradicting belief or an issue with something that I ask you to do, then that's totally fine. But you better let me know so that I can find someone else who will take into account what I ask. That doesn't just go for religion. IMO, that would be like me paying someone for childcare who believes in CIO, and even though I've expressed that I don't want my kid to CIO, they disregard that fact because that's not what they believe. It's cool if we disagree, just let me know.

See... Im in the same boat.

I wouldnt mind doing it, just I would feel super silly teaching a child something that I think is false...if you know what I mean.

OP- do the parents KNOW that you're an atheist?? Because if they do, I think it's super weird that they asked you to teach their children about Christianity in the first place... lol

Daycare doesn't tailor their curriculum to fit every child, that's not how school works.

If you want your child to have a religious education, send them to a religious daycare/pre-school.

They don't. lol. I am sort of afraid to tell them. I think everyone just assumes you are in the area I live in.

It's at home childcare, and probably one of the reasons they chose to do an at-home private care is because they feel they have more control over it? And it's just one child, not several.

No. It's not my place. I'm not going to teach a child something that I personally think is not true. If they want to practice their religion on their own, that's fine.

I just now realized you're in South Carolina too! I never tell anyone I'm Jewish! When it does slip out they look at me like I have three eyes. I can see exactly why you wouldn't tell them you aren't a Christian.

I'd just talk to them about it. *shrugs* Surely you wouldn't be the only atheist they ever met... lol

Yes, they have one child.

But if other children go to the daycare, it isn't fair for them to have to sit through Bible Study because one kid's parent wants the caregiver to do it.

If they want that much control, hire a nanny...

I think it was unfair of them to really ask. I couldn't ask my child's daycare to teach her my beliefs, because there are things that I believe, or don't believe that many other denominations of Christians do. It is a PARENT'S responsibility to teach their child those morals and values(it is written in the Bible that way).

They chose me because I have taught her brother when he was 4. She was two at the time and they trust me more than the day care they were sending her to.

They really didn't come out and say I needed to do it, but she is hinting around to it an awful lot.
