Intermittent Fevers in infant

posted 28th Jan
Ok, so I have an appointment with my sons pedi tomorrow morning to see whats going on but I wanted to get some opinions on here.

Hes almost 8 months, literally a matter of days.
Fever started Thursday 2am it was 102.5 gave motrin fell to 101 in 30-60 minutes or so. Never completely went away until Saturday when it left for 12 hours. It stayed around 101 with medicine getting up to 103 when it would wear off, usually while asleep. Only other symptom was runny nose and slight wheeze.

Its now been 5 days of fever last night he woke up screaming temp was 103. He was wheezing more, had what I thought sounded like a barking cough. He had a bottle with some tylenol and we sat in the steam for 30 minutes. Cough has subsided for the most part but the fever is still there, never going below 101.4. Nose still runny, hes wheezing some and snoring, sleeping a lot. Hes even spitting up more and you can tell hes swallowing a lot of drainage.

When I spoke with the nurse today to make the appointment he kind of ruled out croup because of the fever, hes leaning more toward sinus infection or another infection of some sort especially since the cough isnt as present and now its just a wet cough, not a barking cough. But, he cant diagnose and especially cant without seeing him. This is his pedis regular nurse that he sees with his pedi though.

I dont think its the flu.

Any ideas?

He does seem to want to be sitting up more or doing tummy time which he normally hates.

I would think it's some type of infection since the meds aren't really doing much and it's not getting better. Poor guy.

Yeah, 5 days is just too long for a fever. I'm hoping we can get some answers tomorrow.

Yeah I would say possible ear infection.
Babies are supposed to tug at the ears when they have one but DD never did when she was a baby.

Hopefully. My top 3 guesses would be ear, strep or sinus infection. It's always ears for us.

It was always the ears for Kieran too. He must have had an ear infection 4-6 times a year the first 2 years. I'm surprised they never wanted to do tubes but he grew out of that thankfully.

Aydin was good until he had the bad one that moved into the mastoid bone. Then it was like never ending for a few months. O has only has that one so far *knock on wood* I get all freaked out about them since Aydin's problem. He was almost 2 when it started too.
