Convertible car seat question?

posted 28th Jan
Sorry I keep thinking of things that I want advice, tips and feedback so I'm a bit posty tonight. What convertible car seat do you use/recommend that will not break my wallet but also isn't a cheap peace of crap that would make me paranoid that its not safe... Personally when he was first born I got the cosco brand from walmart as a gift and I hated it... i returned it and spent $30 extra dollars with the refund money to get something I felt was safer and not so cheaply made. Which also happened to be an infant carrier seat. He is getting a bit too tall for that one. So what convertible car seat would you recommend.

Also I already know about rear facing he will be rear facing for quite some time.

Please don't mind my bad grammar, spelling errors, and run on sentences. Thanks in advanced for the advice.

If you have the money honestly I would get the Diono (sp) XRT or whatever it is called. Best for your money.

Im assuming you meant will not be forward facing for a long time. The graco my ride is a fantastic budget friendly convertible.

what are his stats?
Weight
height
torso height (bum to top of shoulder when sitting against a wall)
and most importantly his age.
also what car will the seat be going in to?

with that info i can give you the best seat ideas that will work for your child and your car, not all car seats will fit well in all cars

That's a great seat. Debating on switching to that from our evenflo only because we drive an '04 Kia rio, and its very hard to ride safely away from the airbag without our seat touching his. The evenflo doesn't brace so I am like 3 inches from the dash. The diono can brace so that would mean as long as his seat is still appropriately reclined, we can touch seats behind SO (drivers side)

He's about 17.5 lbs, 26 1/2 inches head to feet. torso height i have no clue. He is 5 months. And no specific car.

most of the time you need the angle adjuster for those in a car to get more room and have it fit right (as long as baby is 6+ months)

:/ of course I don't have a single picture of DS in his seat. The object is to get into the car and out of the car, quickly. He is a miserable car rider ;)

I would plan on it. My sister has this seat and the angle adjuster and has installed it in my car. Fits better, definitely. I wish our car was larger. We were getting a larger car with out return (return was smaller this year, so no go on the car) so the seat wasn't a problem for our tiny car for long but it looks like we definitely may need a better fitting seat with our return instead.

My son is 13 months so it should all work out fine. I would have to get it online though. Have never seen one in stores here.
