Freaking out -TMI-

posted 28th Jan
So I've been having like a pain and sensitivity in my clitoris area that would come and go. I finally got a good look at it and its swollen on the left side with like an "open watery sore" between the skin and clit KWIM? Im FREAKING out! I feel sick and shakey!!! I had a blood test back in 2011 for herpes which came out negative. My SO had testing back in August and came out clean. Im so scared!

The only thing you can do is get tested. I don't know if that kind of pustule is common with herpes, but if you've both tested negative for it and haven't had any other partners in the past year, it shouldn't be that.

It could just be an infected pimple. Go to the doctor and have it checked out. Try not to think the worst as its probably something very simple to care for.

Do you shave? Could be an ingrown hair that got infected or even a cyst.

Don't jump right to STD, but it wouldn't hurt to have it checked out. Even if it's nothing it will give you peace of mind.

We took a break in 2010 and I had unprotected sex. I didnt get tested until 2011 and came out fine. We both have been faithful since then

Only thing you can do is get to the doctor asap to get it looked at and tested before it goes away.

It really might not be anything terrible. I once had an ingrown hair, that I scratched and messed with, until it swelled up and got infected big time. It was HUGE, and painful...I didn't know wtf I'd done. I'd just calm down, and go see the doctor. I'd tell my SO though, that I had a sore spot and didn't want t have sex until I see the doctor so as not to aggravate it.

As you know, herpes will only show up via blood test unless you've had an outbreak, then they test the sore. If your SO didn't hav e a blood test, it's possible he's had it all along. Outbreaks don't always occur immediately. It can take years for one to be triggered if ever at all. I'd go see a dr asap so they can test the sore.

Shortly after posting the swelling and redness went about 75% away and I woke up with next to no pain.My clitoris is still sensitive to the touch. Im guessing the "pop" relieved most of the pain. and the sore isnt as noticable as it was last night but it is still there.

The blood test is specific for hsv and hsv2. If they test for both that is. hsv1 is mostly oral herpes, and 75% of the population will test positive for that because of regular cold sores.. no biggie. hsv2 is the genital herpes. A LARGE population of the US tests positive for hsv2 without ever having any symptoms. It's possible to be a "carrier" of it without knowing or having any outbreaks. Most Gynos don't view the Herpes blood test as necessary during STD screening unless you're showing obvious symptoms, so Herpes is spread often and easily without people even knowing.

I'd still see a doctor. My friend had an outbreak. One sore on her vag. Looked like an ingrown sore. She also popped it thinking it was such. It wasn't. She's never had another outbreak. It shows you that herpes is often overlooked as ingrown hairs or irritation.

And having herpes isn't the end of the world either. There's only a 4% chance of a woman spreading it to a man during each moment of intercourse.
