Because shippers and stockers can lose their jobs for throwing things around. Airline luggage people don't care, and it's their job to get everything on the plane as quickly as possible, regardless of whether that means throwing it or not.

I'm just saying. It's really not worth the risk IMO.
If you insist on having your LO as a lap child, why not just have whoever you're visiting, buy a seat to have when you arrive? And then reimburse them.

I'm just genuinely curious. That's our backup plan we would just rather not have to have someone drive it to us or DH go pick it up if it would have been safe to check it.

ETA because it's designed to take the force and crumple if there in an impact.
Look up the group car seats for the littles of FB they are LOTS of help and have lots of car seat techs that will give you the best advice

I'm just going to point out I've worked in a receiving area of a store taking things off trucks and they don't lose their jobs for throwing things on to a skid. Plus 90% of the time the way smurf is shoved into a truck everything falls over as you take things out anyway. They are definitely NOT shipped to stores as safely as you think.
