Birth Control ?

What kinds of birth control are safe to use while breast feeding other than an IUD?
Im having trouble figuring out what to go on after I have my baby. I got pregnant on the patch but other than that I loved it. My doctor said I cant go on the patch while breast feeding so what can I go on? Im also not interested in Depo since ive heard and witnessed way too many bad reactions to it and I want something I can stay on until Im ready for another baby. (5 years at the very least)

Implanon, it's a 3 year stick in your arm. I love it in Nov I need to get it out....

I just googled this and its actually not considered breastfeeding friendly. It has both progesterone and estrogen in it.


This medication passes into breast milk. This may affect milk production and may have undesirable effects on a nursing infant. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Wish I could say this helpped. Im not interested in IUD or Depo (Personal preference), they dont do Implanon in my area due to complications, I suck at taking pills on time and since I got pregnant using condoms and on birth control Just using condoms or a cervical cap would make me way too paraniod. I suppose Ill just have to suck it up and give the IUD a chance.

Yea there arent many options for nursing mothers. I ended up on the mini pill and just set an alarm on my phone.

ARE YOU SERIOUS!?!? My OB-GYN and the LC told me it was 100% fine to take while breastfeeding and it wouldn't have any effect! OMG!!!!!

Yea just google it. Everything says it shouldnt be used while breastfeeding. You need a progesterone only pill.

I am beyond livid right now! That's what he okayed for me to take and he KNEW I was breastfeeding at the time. My milk dried up and I couldn't get it back so I had to quit breastfeeding! I COULD HAVE HURT MY CHILD!!!!!

The pill is probably why you dried up
