Crock Pot help!

So, I'm cooking with my crock pot for the first time today. It is brand new and it's been on low for about six hours now. It doesn't smell like food....it smells more mechanical. It's definitely hot and I know the food is cooking. Could the smell just be because this was the first time I ever plugged it in or....?

It's probably because it's the first time it's heated up. Our toaster smelled like that the first couple of times we used it... but the bread tasted fine.

Bbq pulled pork. It was pork loin cooked in root beer for six hours, drained, shredded then bbq sauce was added. It is delicious and I will use the crap out of the crock pot now.

Everyone needs to try it. I was so skeptical about using the crock pot only because I'm super weird about food but I'm glad I finally caved. DH would give me crap every night I didn't use it.
