Okay, Lets say your 4yr old got 7 cavity's (i know I feel awful   ) but the dentist gave you a choice of bringing him to the dentist 5 different times to get them filled and a shot each time (can only do one side at a time and 1-2 teeth at a time) ooorrr you could bring him to the hospital to have him put under and get them all done at once and no pain when he wakes up.
I'm torn cuz if I take him to the dentist I know he will FREAK out and not hold still, he hates shots and I will be the only one there to help calm him down and theey also said if he doesn't cooperate they can put him in this like straight jacket thing and i cant have that ....i just dont think i can do this 5 times  

I took my son to the hospital, within hours of him waking up he told me his teeth didn't hurt any more and was his normal self again.

my oldest was in this same predictament at 6 years old. after ONE visit and only filling one cavitiy (she fought like crazy and we had to hold her down adn all) we opted for the hospital visit and she was fine afterward. sleepy for a few hours and the next day she was just fine with no pain or any complaints

our dentist didn't even give an option. Cylus has to be put under but then again he has to have a root canal done from where he broke his tooth all the way up into the gums. He wants to fix it before it starts giving him problems.

I would take him to the hospital and get them all done at once.

Baby teeth are important and need to be taken care of. I would do the hospital hell even as an adult I wouldnt want to sit through that many visits. Its tramuatizing situations like that, that make people fear the dentist.

I know they r important, DH thinks that they will just fall out so whats the point but I try to tell him they can affect his adult teeth... he thinks im full of it and the dentist just wants money

Well an anestesiologist will be there to monitor him so there is really no need for worry.
