Couches with kids

posted 28th Jan
What kind of couch do you have, and are you happy with it? We are looking at getting a sectional with tax return, because we currently only have a 3 person couch and we have 2 kids. We would like to entertain more, but we can't really well with the small couch. Suggestions?

We have a sectional and it's my best friend. DH and I can both stretch completely out and still be next to each other. I wish we had gotten something other than micofiber, though. It's hard to keep clean

We have a microfiber sectional, we like it, but it can be obnoxious to clean. It cleans up well though, and we've had it for four years now. I'm trying to find a good picture.

We have an oversized sofa, loveseat, chair and ottoman. We prefer that to a sectional because it allows us to change the seating arrangement however we want it. Leather was a must for us.

Ours is exactly the same way. I keep meaning scotch guard it but something always gets on it before I manage to, and then I have to clean it all over again. I think we're going to have someone come and steam clean it and scotch guard it for us next month. Between the 2 dogs an DS who just HAS to eat his lunch in the living room it's got little smudges all over it constantly.

I have a very expensive Scandinavian leather couch I got for free. It's white, but actually stays pretty clean. We have a loveseat too. It's super comfy to sleep on or just to hang. Way better than any fabric couch we have previously had!

How is the leather with the kids? Is it top leather?

If you do get a sectional, make sure it's a decent size. The sectional we have looks big... but it's unrealistic when we have people over. Everyone is squished on it. And also make sure it has like.... extra legs? between the legs. I don't know how to explain it LOL. But our support beams snapped because there was no actual support from the couch to the floor in the middle of the sectional.

You see the black legs right there? The only place those are located are on each end, and then at the corner. But the part of the couch between the corner and the end have no support.. so if a kid is gonna jump or flop on the couch, it may snap (ours did).

I'm looking into sectionals too. We have a chair and ottoman and an old 3 seater couch. I hate our couch. Hard to get off of, its ugly and its green. Everything else in my living room is black. I want a couch both me and SO can lay on. He always wants to lay down with me but I have too much junk in my trunk and end up half on half off the couch with him snoring away.

This is our sectional when we first got it and were living in our apartment. The back pillows are a little more misshapen now because my fat ass cat likes lay on them, but it still looks fairly good considering everything it's been through. It does suck that it pretty much has to go in a corner, though because if both sides aren't up against something it will slide as soon as someone sits on it.
