ovarian cyst

posted 28th Jan
I just came from an ultrasound that a doctor gave me a referral for due to pelvic pain and I was told I have a pretty large cyst on my left ovary (5.4cm x 3.9 cm x 4.8cm) I talked to the doc that gave me the referral and she referred me to a gyno and said they are probably going to remove it. Is there anyone who has gone through this that can throw me some advice on what may be done.

Hmmm. I've never had one removed, but I have polycystic ovaries and I have issues with them a lot. I've had them rupture which sucks, but once the initial pain from the rupture goes away the cyst absorbs and doesn't cause anymore issues (until I get another). I was told that they don't usually remove them unless they are HUGE or causing some sort of health problem (besides pain) But I suppose every Dr. has a different opinion on it.

Feel better, I know they suck.

Thanks. I'm just a little scared because if they wanna remove it that means surgery and that's scary to me. She said its pretty large and that explains why I have the pain. I delivered my son a whole year ago and I've had pain down there ever since. I can't have sex and I can't even use a tampon.

Uuugh. I know exactly how you feel. Sometimes the pain will radiate down your hip and leg also
Try not to be too scared, I believe the surgery they do for that is laproscopic, and quite simple.

I know about the no sex and no tampons thing. Mine isn't from a cyst at the moment, but I delivered my son 5 months ago and STILL have major pain "down there". I had 3rd degree tears and a broken tail bone, no fun.

Aww mine was a pretty rough delivery too. That's why at first the doc was telling me it was just taking me longer to heal but now after a year they tell me i have a large cyst and that's what's causing the pain. But I'll know exactly what's gonna happen next week when i see my gyno.
