Breech or Head-Down???

posted 28th Jan
Hello Ladies, I'm now 34 weeks pregnant, and at my last OB Appointment, the doctor said he was back in breech position... That was Jan. 22. He has been head down once and I could tell by the pressure down by my pelvic area, but now I'm not sure if he's sideways or head down again, I've been feeling a lot, aloooot of pain in my hips and lower back for the past 4 days and I feel more movements across my belly by my belly button and off to the sides of my belly. When he gets the hick-ups I feel it down low and toward my belly button... I'm not sure and I'm hoping he's flipped back to head down position, but if he hasn't by Feb. 5 I'll have to schedule a C-Section for 39 weeks. Due date is March. 10. If anyone could tell me ways to tell if he's head down again, I would appreciate it, this is my first child and this is all still so new to me!

If you feel a lot of pressure in your hips and pelvic area that's a good sign. I wouldn't panick quite yet.

Also, I'm guessing your doctor is against delivering a breech? This baby was breech for a little while and I discussed a breech vaginal delivery with my doctor and he's delivered 50+ breeched babies, all successfully. Is it an option?

No he won't do it, He wants to do a procedure that could detach my placenta during at 35 week and send me into emergency c-section because my placenta is attached in the front. So I'm gonna opt out of that and just schedule a c-section for 39 weeks if he isn't in head down position by Feb 5. I'm hoping he is though, I really want to experience the natural birth, but I'll be happy if he's healthy. Plus he's in the 80 percental which makes him 30% bigger than the average baby, so... I'm just hoping my hips and back hurting is a good sign that he's getting down there where he needs to be!

So this happened to me only like three weeks ago. My son has been head down since 30 weeks and at 37.5 weeks has somehow flipped himslef to breech position. My doctor seemed a little surprised he said this far along in pregnancy that was rare and if he had not flipped head down again by my next appointment the would schedule a c-section a few days after that appointment. I asked him the chances of a 38-39 week baby flipping back with out any help and he said maybe 2-3 % flip back this late in the game. I bauled and got on spinningbabies.com and basically stood on my head for an entire week (oh my placenta is in the front to and my amniotic fluid level is not low but my doctor refused to try and flip him for the exact same reason of tearing the placenta). I'm thrilled to say the day before my appointment I got him to flip and my dad (who is a doctor) checked to confirm and said he was for sure head down. Got to the doctor the next day, little man is head down but not engaged so I am still in the waiting game.   Just letting you know it is for sure possible. Good luck, hope you get what you want.

Check out belly mapping.
I learned about it, tried it out with my second and now this one and I can now tell with certainty which way she's positioned. I'm 35w1d and, I smurf you not, this little girl has been through every breech position imaginable in the last week alone. Know that there is still time for your LO to flip around, My oldest didn't turn until 38 weeks from transverse.

From my personal experience, when I feel movements and hiccups around my belly button, baby is usually transverse. I notice more pain in my vagina and pubic bond when my babes are head down, more in my hips when they're transverse and more in my ribs when they're breechh, but every woman iss different.

Yeah, when he was head down I felt alot of pressure down by my pelvic bone, and now its just my hips, which don't hurt so bad today. So I'm thinking he's definatly sideways, but I'm really hoping he flips, if not, I'll schedule a C-Section at 39 weeks, so around March 4, I think I might choose the 6 because that is my Great Grandmother's Birthday and she passes away just over a year ago. Thanks for you help, I'm really thinking he is transverse for sure, I always feel him move across my belly and on both sides at once! We will know more Feb. 5 when he will be here or not!

Quoting Jessica Harbin:" Yeah, when he was head down I felt alot of pressure down by my pelvic bone, and now its just my hips, ... [snip!] ... sure, I always feel him move across my belly and on both sides at once! We will know more Feb. 5 when he will be here or not!"

The 6th is a great day, lol! I had my second daughter n the 6th (2010).
Check out belly mapping and give it a shot. It won't hurt to try. All you're doing really is feeling around for tell tale bumps and noting where you feel certain movements.
