Post Partum Preeclampsia

posted 8th Jun
I am still in the hospital for PP Preeclampsia problems... It was expected that my induction and the delivery of my daughter would bring my blood pressure down fairly quickly... However, its continued to go up.
So I had her on Thursday (I consider it Wed. Night) at 2:51 AM and my blood pressure went upslowly all day on Thursday. On Friday it began to rise a little more quickly, and i was experiencing headaches... On Sat morning I was having migranes and was put on hypertension meds... Which has started to make my BP yo yo... I have been down to a normal range, and then been back up....

My question is this... Has anyone else experienced this type of preeclampsia? How long did it take for your BP to stabalize? At what range did they release you from the hospital? And how long after birth did it take for your BP to resume its normal pressure?

I had severe pre-eclampsia and my blood pressure was high for a very long time. They put me on magnesium and after 2 days took it off....then my blood pressure was still high. They ended up letting my out of the hospital too soon around a week after being there, and then I had to check in the next day bc I was flying out that day, and my bp got higher.....it was 180/45, so they checked me in right away and gave me more magnesium and put me on blood pressure pills.....Total I was in the hospital was 2 weeks, but I was on the blood pressure medication for a long time, and even when I got out of the hospital it wasnt back to normal. It just now got back to normal and this was June of 06.....but I also have been pregnant since then so that may have not helped the bp.
But I have a friend that was in for pre-eclampsia in April and was out after 3 days with normal bp, so maybe you will be lucky.
Hope you get better soon!

Just hoping things are going well. I'm sure you're busy with your daughter.

I had preeclampsia with both pregnancies. With my son it went away at delivery, however with my daughter I am 3 weeks PP and still experiencing problems and my bp is up soI am on pills. I go back to the dr this week so see what we should do. It's annoying and was hoping it'd be gone. Thankfully my liver and kidney function is still in the okay range and we're not too worried about it yet. I seem to be stuck at 140/80 and my normal is more like 118/70.

Things have gotten better... The procardia is helping I think...I am going to the doctor this week for a checkup on my blood pressure per doctor's instructions.

I have also noticed a dramatic drop in my swelling. I didn't realize how bad it really was... I knew that in the last 4 weeks of pregnancy I had gained about 8 or 9 lbs... and apparently it was ALL water.
I really thought I was just that fat... I didn't realize how swollen my face was at all... but it really was! However, my body is starting to normalize again... my face went down, my feet still have a little swelling but not bad, and my hands are the same as my feet...

I'm hoping that I am nearing the end of this...

But yes, all is well   I haven't been on because I have been so enamoured with my daughter that I have had a hard time prying myself away from her   that and, I tend to sleep when she does.

Thank you guys for all the information! I will keep you posted on how things look when I go to the doctor's office on Friday.
So far my only concern is regarding my kidneys. My right side has been hurting, and I know that its my kidney because its right where my stone was back in Jan... so I have been drinking tons of water and cranberry juice
But I am sure all is well
