Help with a rediculously unruly toddler!!!

posted 28th Jan
DD Turned 3 in September and she was a huge pain. We had finally figured out something that worked for her and were able to enjoy life with her. Well about 3 weeks ago we moved to Florida and since then she has been completely uncontrollable. We go to the beach every weekend once or twice, and this really nice park around here but lately it's gotten to where its not worth going anymore. It is impossible to get her to leave anywhere without a HUGE scene. The last time we went to the beach she found out we were leaving and started to run and would not stop till some lady helped me corner her. When we go to the store she will not stay with us and refuses to sit in the cart without screaming the entire time. It's gotten so bad that I refuse to take her anywhere by myself. I could not handle her and her sister(17 mos) by myself. Please help, this is stupid! I love her to death and I thought it would get better the more we went but its gotten gradually worse! TIA

Dont take her anywhere any more. Tell her untill she can behave that she can stay home while you and your other LO go out and do things.

The moving part is a big change and may take her a while to get use to. Have you asked her how she is feeling?

We also give warnings before we leave. With our three year old we sing a song..."Five more minutes, five more minutes, and then we are going home" (can substitute home for car or park or clean up) Then we give one minute warning with same song. Then we go home or whatever else.

I have also found it takes patience, consistency, and persistence. Just not going anywhere with her will punish you, the parent, not the child. Not to mention children need to learn how to behave in the outside world.

Exactly! I've tried everything too! Nothing works any more at all. When we do leave and I finally get her strapped in she screams for at least half an hour after that
