Chicken soup, help.

I know I can google but I'm short on time at this time.

The first thing I need to do it boil the carcus, right?

I just throw everything in the crockpot and let it cook all day. About half an hour before dinner I will throw in some noodles and pull out the bones. DH loves it. I add in carrots, garbanzo beans and rice too

i put in some carrots, celery, onions, garlic powder, sea salt and pepper.
omg it's so good... i can't wait for some. lol

I roast the carcus first (it gives it alot more flavor) then boil it.

It was roasted, but we ate some for lunch yesterday.

I didn't think to add beans. I was going to use jasmine rice, broken thin spaghetti, carrots, onion, peas and seasoning. I make potato based soup a lot.

I mean the bones. I always pull all the meat off and then brown the bones in the oven...

I don't use a recipe. But I can tell you approximates, if that's okay.


6 cups of water
5 or 6 medium red or white peeled potatoes.
4 carrots peeled. Cut in half length wise and then sliced.
1 yellow onion
2 celery sticks
Green beans if I have them

^ just put the water in the pot and add as I prep them. Sometime even the night before so all I have to do it cook it day of. The water will keep the veggies nice.

1lb of ground breakfast sausage
OR
1lb bacon chopped (Ends and pieces is really good) so fry that up and add to pot.

With the grease I add about a 1/4 cup butter. Melt. Add 1/3 cup flour. And 3 cups milk- again I don't measure these are rough estimates. Think a basic white sauce. Stir until boiling. Boil on med heat stirring constantly until thick and add that to the pot. Salt, pepper, seasoning salt and garlic powder for 30 minutes or until done.

I've also added in caulifaur and broccoli. We like veggies a lot.
