fun things to do with your LOs room decor?

posted 28th Jan
Sometime in the next few months, hopefully next month or the month after, we will be moving into a 3 bedroom place. Baby will have its own room and our two older boys (3 and 1) will continue to share a room like now. I wanna do something fun for them, since their room is also going to be the playroom with all their toys. I'm not sure if the room is going to have a lot a lot of space because we haven't found a place yet. But we are hoping to do bunk beds to give them more space if needed and also because we think they'd love them. When we actually do bunk beds they will be 2 and almost 4.

So my question I guess is besides bunk beds what other fun things have you done in your LOs room, weather its shared between another child or even just a single LO in a room.

I do complete themes for my kids room. DS's room is painted a bright blue, and we have it done in Sesame Street because thats what he is really into. We bought the charcter decals for the walls, Sesame street bedding, Sesame street bookself/storage bin, ect. He is 19 months... DD's nursery is getting completely done in Ladybugs, because I'm not a huge fan of pink. We painted the walls a light purple, and got her the wall decals, lamp, bedding, ect.

Right now I have the same idea going. Their room right now is "Sponge Bob" themed. They each have different sponge bob bedding, then they have sponge bob curtains, a sponge bob wall clock and a ton of different sponge bob wall decals. I also painted wooden letters to spell their names above their beds to match sponge bob. Our oldest was so into sponge bob but now he's out growing it and they both seem to be into disney "Cars" but I'm having a hard time finding cute cars room things online.

I have, well now I'm sure it would be a little bit easier now that we're going to go with bunk beds either twin over twin or twin over full size. Cars doesn't make a lot of different toddler bedding sets. But I wasn't that crazy about their curtains and wall decals. The Sponge Bob decals I have are fabric decals which I love so much, super easy to put on, take down and put back up as many times as I want and I don't have to worry about it not wanting to come off the wall or the sticky on the back wearing off cause you put them on with laundry startch. But other then those things, I'm not crazy about the toy chests I've found and all that I've really liked was the lamps / night lights and my boys don't even use those

Yeah I have the sticker decals, and they are a pain in the butt. Is there anything else that they are really into? Maybe you could ask them to help pick a theme?

My oldest right now keeps going back and forth between "Curious George" and "Caillou" and my youngest doesn't really like anything themed or show wise. He likes cars and the only show he kinda likes is "Yo Gabba Gabba". I want the room to be matchy and not two different or many different things going on all at once. I'd so ask them if they would know what I was saying or would communicate back with me. For some reason my boys developed motion wise quickly but not so much verbally. My oldest is getting better at telling us things like he's hungry and what he wants to eat and so on but thats about it, other then random words and repeating random things he hears.

Oh I see. I wouldnt want to do two themes either. It would be a bit much, and alot more money. I would just go with what the oldest likes, since the LO isnt really into anything yet. Out of Caillou or Curious George, I would go with George. Then again I cannot stand Caillou, so thats probably why

Yeah I'm not a huge fan of either of them, but its probably because its all I watch all day long :p I really wanna go with something different though, even if its not something he's INTO INTO right now, I just know he's gonna out grow Curious George and Caillou soon but he's not giving me any hints to what he's going to be obbsessing about next.

I could but my youngest is nowhere near ready for a bed so high off the ground. Right now he's still in a crib so he'll be going from a crib to the bottom bunk of the bunk beds.
