Sleep needed

So my son's dr had me put him on a new feeding schedule so he sleeps through the night. He's a week shy of being 5 months and is still waking up 2 to 3 times a night. Its been super stressful for me since I'm apparently the only one who hears him wake up. I've felt like I failed until I told myself I'm doing the best I can and I felt better with that. Until tonight, I'm just so tired and I want a full night of sleep without being interrupted I actually wished he was never born. Now I feel like the worst mom ever. I love my baby, I'm just so tired and SO won't help out at night. Has anyone else felt like this?

It's normal for a 5 month old to wake 2-3 times a night

What kind of "feeding schedule" are you talking about?

Sleep loss is part of being a mom to an infant.

ETA: make your SO get up. You ddin't make this baby by yourself. Or get someone to watch him overnight so you can get a break

My 16 month old wakes still wakes up once or twice a night, he always drinks several ounce from his bottle. I don't believe there's anything you can do to make a child do to sleep through.

DS2 was still waking more than 3 times a night sometimes before his first birthday.

Good luck getting a full night of sleep now that you have a baby. Even if my youngest sleeps through the night, my almost 4 and 3 year olds still don't sometimes.

Tell your SO that he needs to help you out. Otherwise, get used to being a new mom.

My 4 year old still wakes up 2-3 times a night. Either for a drink or to go pee

And no, there is nothing you can do to MAKE your child sleep through the night.

My first started sleeping through the night when she was 2 months.
Breakfast- 2-4 Tbs rice cereal with 1 Tbs fruit and 6-8 oz bottle
Lunch- 2-4 Tbs rice cereal with 1 Tbs fruit and veggies and 4 oz bottle
Dinner- 2-4 Tbs rice cereal with 1 Tbs veggies and 4 oz bottle
Bedtime- 6-8 oz bottle
All meals are 4 hours apart and in between, he can drink water.

Not all babies are the same

and that is a TERRIBLE schedule for "feeding". That is a LOT of solids for a baby who really shouldn't be having any solids at all.

And water? That is another big no-no

I'd fire your pedi ASAP

No I never felt like I was sleep deprived, because my husband would get up with the babies too..

That's bullsmurf, why can't he help with baby at night???

When I was single, and needed a couple hours of un interrupted sleep, i used to let Dean sleep in his swing, he used to sleep a good 4-5 hours, and I felt like a new person...

being that your not supposed to give solids till 6 months... i cant see a pediatrician reccomending that. thats ridiculous.

my 14 month old still gets up 2-3 times a night to eat. its called being a mom. and yeah im tired (and i get up at 230am to go to work, he gets up at 11, 130, and 630 at least) but owell, its part of having a baby.

DS2 didn't even eat that much baby food at 8 months   He didn't want to touch the stuff.

water intoxication. google it

it also has no nutritional value.

babies need nutrients, need foods. if theyre crying to eat, theyre hungry. they dont over eat like adults do

First, babies NEED formula or breastmilk. They never need water (unelss for a medical problem). They need the calories from BM and formula.

Second, a sip or two is fne,but infants are easily susceptible to water intoxication. It can be fatal or cause brain damage.

Third, that is WAY to much food for a not even 5 month old. Ever stop to think that he is waking up because of a biological NEED? Not just to piss you off?

There is no way to MAKE a baby sleep through the night. And your "schedule" is ridiculous, IMO

Where in my post did I say I thought he was trying to piss me off? Thats right, I didn't. I also don't neglect my child like you apparently seem to think I do at night. I go in check if he's even awake or if he's just making noise. Most the te gets himself rolled over on his belly at night so I roll him back onto his back. I suppose you think thats a bad thing to do too since when I do that I end up waking him so I pick him up out of bed and cuddle him a little. I didn't ask for criticizing I was asking for some help.

The only reason you are getting criticized is cause of how you are trying to "make" him sleep through the night. And the feeding schedule you have him on is ridiculous for a 5 month old.
