My 16 month old gets up at 2am to play

I hear him on camera, and he's. *UP* scouts singing, his mickeys are going off, he's pushing his trucks around... he slept thru the night very early, I think he was just resting up a lot for all the shinasmurfns he was about to pull when get got his big boy bed

You got criticized for trying to make your 4 month old sleep through the night with a ridiculous schedule

He gets up. That's what infants do. I think your doctor is a moron for telling you to follow that feeding schedule. And you need to make your SO understand that he has to get up at night too.

Why won't ur husband get up with the baby??

I think ur just super desperate and well sleep deprived,

Its not easy, I sleep like a log, once I'm out its curtains, and I'm an smurf to wake up, but its not the babys fault... its so easy to blame them, but u should really be blaming ur husband, and id be letting him have it.

What time do u put him down for the night?? I always give my kids showers before bed, that always relaxes them, they toss and turn all night if they don't get their showers

LOL... my LO is still in his crib, but we'll probably move to a toddler bed within a few months. I can just imagine how that's going play out.

Actually I said last night, not sometimes as in I've thought it before. I love my babies with sll my heart. Look where I posted, in health and well being, don't you think maybe I've considred the possiblity I have PPD? I was hoping that someone who has/had it would have said something. Maybe thats how they felt and their dr said to them that was the problem. I'm trying to reach out for some help but thanks for making me feel even worse. He also got put on a feeding schedule by the dr because he was waking up every hour at night. When he did that, yeah SO helped out then because I'd wake him up but lately he's been sleeping better so he stays asleep since he works, I stay home. As for the amount he actually eats, he doesn't finish his food and I don't force it on him, if he isn't hungry, he isn't hungry. The water thing, his dr okayed it said it was fine but only between meals. I never give him more than 2 oz and he drinks maybe 1 oz. so again, thanks for making me feel a million times worse then what I already did.

Talk to your doc. See what he/she thinks about PPD.

And again, I'd find a new Pedi as soon as possible.

Also, I know all babies are different. I'm not brand new to this, but I'm also not a pro either. I Said before, my daughter starting sleeping all night when she was 2 months. My son's dr made it sound like at almost 5 months, this wasn't normal. I don't know everything there is to know about babies, thats why I listen to the dr.

Honestly, I would eliminate the water. It fills up his belly, but it doesn't have any substance to sustain him - he's just going to be hungry again shortly afterwards.

I understand being sleep deprived, I'm sure most of us have been there. Your body adjusts to it eventually.

If you're concerned about PPD, definitely talk to your doctor about it. There's lots of vitamins or even prescription meds that can help.

Do some of your own research. Doctors are not the end-all be-all of knowledge and each doc has a different way of doing things. Take what your doc says with a grain of salt. Most are behind on the current research

not to mention that things are constantly changing when it comes to what is "right" for babies

And I will tell you this, the vast majority of babies are not even close to sleeping through the night at 4 months

I'm also curious why he has to have water between meals? Why can't you give him the nutrition and calories that he NEEDS?

Water will fill him up for a little while, but it isn't what he needs

Water between meals so when mealtime comes around he is hungry for some food. Like I said before too, he doesn't eat it all and I don't force it on him to eat it all either. If he's full, I pick up on his cues and stop. I give him a few minutes for his belly to settle before I give him the bottle, he does have some during his food too though. I don't push it on him. He probably only eats 1 Tbs total at each meal. Whatever bottle he doesn't drink shortly after eating, I put it in the fridge and let him nibble on that between meals, so I guess I do cheat a little with that schedule the dr gave him.
