Quoting Red Bottom:" If they're sick, you keep them home."If I had kept him home from the very start he would have missed an entire week of school not to mention part of this week also, depending on how long this persists.
Quoting Jenna+1:" <blockquote><b>Quoting Your friendly n00berhood :</b>" Send your 5 yr old to school ... [snip!] ... Not very. I mean he is little one sick day here and there isn't going to crush his whole education. You should keep him home."I was leaning strongly towards keeping him home too. I just wanted a little perspective. Thanks!
Quoting Mama*AtoZ:" I wouldn't keep them home just for a cough. But if it's bad, like keeping him awake at night so he's ... [snip!] ... so he's very tired, and hurting and tired from coughing all day, then i'd keep him home and load him up with sodium ascorbate. "It doesn't seem to be bothering him as much as it's bothering me, honestly. But it has become more frequent. There aren't any accompanying symptoms like sniffling and sneezing. I will definitely be loading him up with vitamin C today though.
Quoting Kelly&Coralie:" For me it would depend on how she is acting If she had a cough, but is happy, playing, eating and ... [snip!] ... I'd let her but if she were miserable, then I would keep her home Also, fever and vomiting is an automatic sick day"He asked me yesterday if he had school in the morning after a (sort of) coughing fit, and I said yes, and he asked to stay home. Outside of that he is playing and interacting normally. I think I'm going to go with my gut and just keep him home today though.
Quoting Your friendly n00berhood :" He asked me yesterday if he had school in the morning after a (sort of) coughing fit, and I said yes, ... [snip!] ... me very uneasy when I have to keep him home. Hopefully this is just the worst of it and he starts getting better after today."
Quoting Kelly&Coralie:" If it really has been 5+ days of a bad cough, I would take him to the docs. Gotta rule out an infection like bronchitis"It has been 5 days, today will be the fifth. It started out very mild which is why he attended school all week. I've been paying attention to it, this isn;t the first time that he has had cold that had no fever or indication of a cold, really. Colds can last up to ten days, if it gets any worse over the next few days then I'll definitely be taking him in but for now I'm just going to watch him and see how he acts and how the cough progresses and load him up with Vitamin C.
