The bankers told the Republicans not to put the country into a default situation. Austerity is hurting many countries in Europe. It was unwise for them to do what they are doing. More people working will help the debt situation. Most of the country is improving, but its a slow process since Republicans stood in the way of getting things done for the American people. They will keep losing elections if they keep this up.

Do you think the austerity measures are in place for kicks and giggles?
They are on austerity as they can't pay for important commitments without it.

Have you never put yourself on personal austerity?

Every informed banker knows that we are not at risk for default. And, every informed person knows that allowing the debt issue to not be addressed in a serious way is dangerously irresponsible.

How are you privy to all these private talks between bankers and republicans?

Also, how do you explain the fact that democrats had a majority and super majority for Obama's first two years and nothing got done? Can't blame republicans for that, now can you?

They had a majority, but not a super majority for very long, only a few months. The minority has been filibustering a record number of times, so a lot of things the House passed didn't get through the Senate. Not all Democrats vote the same way too. Businesses must've talked to the Republicans out of the depth ceiling standoff because they decided to raise the ceiling and that would've really hurt them. A lot these businesses rely on government to function and for a stable market.

So really you're just speculating that it was all the republicans fault with their secret talks that you don't really know about.

And if not all the democrats vote along party lines, it really isn't just the republicans fault that smurf didn't get done, is it?

You seem to think that the crisis is over. It was pushed out a few months and will be negotiated in the spring. To use an overused term, they just "kicked the can down the road."

When you filibuster every bill and block a lot of nominations nothing gets done. Republicans went to their retreat with big businesses and when they came back they changed their mind. Businesses would be really hurt when they can get loans and their projects just sit there.

Republicans think that stopping government will make them look good. But when millions of checks stop going out to seniors, veterans the poor and government employees their not going to be very popular with the people popular, they already hover around 9%. Think of millions of emails and phone calls crashing their office circuit boards.

If a business needs the federal government's help to continue being a business, then they deserve to go out of business. I don't know why you're so concerned about businesses being hurt when they don't get taxpayer dollars.

And let's not pretend like the democrats' hands are clean in the whole business world I'll-scratch-your-back-if-you-scratch-mine with politicians. Some of Obama's top donors 2008: Goldman Sachs ($1 mil), Microsoft ($852,000), Google ($814,000), JPMorgan Chase ($808,000), Citigroup ($736,000), IBM ($532,000), GE ($529,000) and Morgan Stanley ($512,000).

I know it's hard to grasp because it doesn't fit the paradigm that you've probably built up in your head, but both sides are guilty.

Think of two parents who are continuously feeding their child candy for dinner and letting him play xBox 12 hours per day. The parent that finally cracks down and says, "Ok, this isn't healthy" is OBVIOUSLY not going to gain favor with the child.

Oh man. You have bought the lines of crap that the liberal media puts out there.
NOBODY wants government to shut down. Nobody.
And, the government is required by law to pay social security.
Additionally, our regular tax revenue covers obligations to seniors, soldiers, our bond holders and many others. IF there was a shut down, they would get paid. Your tax dollars and my tax dollars can pay for key obligations.

People that want a plan to get our debt under control have no other leverage to shrink our deficit and debt and get a BUDGET passed that is responsible.

But they gave a lot more to Mitt Romney. A lot big business perform government projects and need a stable market. A lot of small businesses need government for loans and grants. We are major economic power we would crash the whole world market. It's hard for you to imagine how big we are and how much money changes hands every second.

Thats all for tonight. Tomorrow I will go into more detail of what all this means.

Exactly!

Cutting spending isn't popular. Romney mentioned cutting funding to PBS and that's all liberals could talk about for the rest of the election.
