Not unless they're certified.

Are you really that smurfing ignorant?! You can preach to your kids the value of staying in school and how it determines their futures all you smurfing want to that does not mean they are just gonna be good children and go to school. You can have a child that is a rebellious little twat that has come out of the best possible situation.

Not here. Like seriously if they sent you a letter that means you got it and read it. Like when they call you in for jury duty they just send you a letter and assume you got it because it is the mail and it has to have gotten to you.

But what I'm saying is just sending letters via regular mail is not enough proof to be able to charge someone and send them to jail. There has to be another step between sending letters via regular mail and going to jail.

I would think so to. I was told that if they cannot get a hold of the parents after trying for awhile they send a cop out to their house. So that may be how she finally found out about what her son was doing. But like seriously if she was like my mom like I don't know what people would expect her to do about it. (my mother is bed ridden for the most part) But my mom actually has a phone and internet and everything she needs to take care of all of this stuff electronically.

Uh, no.

Your whole attitude is.... If a kid skips school it's NOT the parents' fault. I disagree.

If your child is really incapable of attending class, for whatever reason, there are other options. Many districts have alternative high schools, there's homeschooling and online classes, too. Traditional high school isn't the only means to obtain a diploma.

I know that but your whole attitude is that it is the parents fault their kid is skipping school when in fact it isn't unless they know it is happening and ignore it.
I left high school to home school to take care of my mother. I taught myself everything I needed to know and got my high school diploma. If there is anyone that knows the alternatives I know..

It IS the parents' fault when TRUANCY charges are being presented.

Maybe you're just not familiar with the terminology... but truancy isn't just missing a few days because you're sick.

I get that your mother may have called him in for being sick, and the funeral and everything.... but he's obviously exceeded the amount of "excused absences" the district allows. Your mom should have made sure his butt was in school.

It was in school when it needed to be and all of the absences were excused. The school just doesn't know how to keep up with their smurf apparently.

Excused by who? The school district sets that standard, not your mom. Like I already stated, children missing classes causes a domino effect.. that's why you're only allowed X amount of days.

But good job on the passing the buck.

I am serious dude. My mom sent them notes and proof but they said they don't have any of it. The people in the office there are rude and would be better working at walmart than in the office there.

If you have physical documentation, then it shouldn't be a problem to provide it again.

I still think your brother has missed more school than is allowed (unexcused, excused, WHATEVER).

He obviously has or it wouldn't be a problem but the school needs to get the smurf over it. We cannot control when he gets sick, when family gets sick, when people die, etc. He is passing his classes so really why should it matter?

Because they are the adult and the student is a CHILD. Walk your kid into school if they are skipping, we have parents do it everyday,

Because students missing so much class puts a burden on teachers and other students. I could give you some examples, but frankly I don't think you would care.

Does he REALLY need to miss school when every Tom, Jane and Dick in your family gets ill? I think you're looking for excuses to be absent.
