Quoting MommaNoodle:" are we talking about a kid in elementary or high school, or is this a college student?... i understand ... [snip!] ... they need to cover and certain goals that the kid needs to reach before they can move on to the next grade. so, i get it. "He is in high school but mentally he is about ten maybe eleven. KWIM?
Quoting loser mom:" A school's funding is partly based on their student population. Do you believe it's fair they should ... [snip!] ... means an unexcused absence. So I kind of raise an eyebrow when you say he has all these legit reasons to miss school. "

So I kind of raise an eyebrow when you say he has all these legit reasons to miss school. "The school he goes to is rich and stuck up. They don't care about the reasons and I am pretty sure if your dad died (not to mention our uncle dying a month later) you would miss time to. Do you think it is fair they punish a student for illness they cannot control or having family be severely sick or die?
Quoting Jude ♥ JGL:" <blockquote><b>Quoting loser mom:</b>" A school's funding is partly based on their ... [snip!] ... you were allowed three days for a funeral, no extensions, not exceptions. Is that truely enough time off to grieve your father?"Now a days it is according to people. But while dad was in hospice my mom took my little brother out of school twice during dads last days to say bye then of course when he died he was out for the funeral.
Quoting Raindancer:" He is in high school but mentally he is about ten maybe eleven. KWIM?"
Quoting MommaNoodle:" she needs to look into what the legitimate reasons are, too. because i know there are some parents out ... [snip!] ... father is not a legit reason, but... there could be a legal limit on the time. i guess, obv there is if it's a truancy issue..."
Quoting MommaNoodle:" what does his mental age have to do with it? do you mean because he may be taking it harder than other ... [snip!] ... back to his normal routine. sure, he needs time to grieve like anyone else, but... idk. maybe i'm not explaining this right..."Yeah. He talks to his counselor and starts crying and she sends him home. Like what is the point in even having her there for that? I am not saying he is taking it harder. I am saying like high school kids handle this stuff a lot better than elementary age kids most of the time. He hands it like an elementary age kid. His mental issues are strange because he is emotionally that age but he is completing 12 grade work.

Quoting loser mom:" She also mentioned in the OP something about parents not even knowing their kids skip school, yadda yadda.. so it makes me think other things are going on as well."You are an idiot.
Quoting MommaNoodle:" hmm.. idk then. but it's good that he at least tries to go. idk. death is obviously hard to deal with ... [snip!] ... it harder or deal with it differently. idk what else to say. but i do agree with the schools on truancy for the most part. "I agree with it but not when you have legit reasons for missing school.
Quoting loser mom:" This is going to sound really mean.. but that isn't the school's concern. Their responsibility is ensuring ... [snip!] ... are in class. Adults face the same issue in the workplace.... you're usually only allowed X amount of time off for funerals. "There is a huge difference between adults and children.
Quoting Raindancer:" You are an idiot."
