Quoting TantricLemons:" I haven never been afraid of loosing my milk >.< I have been breastfeeding for 4 years and breastfeed ... [snip!] ... that solids under a year are for the experience, not nutrition. I am afraid to smurf my kids system up, not to loose my supply."
Quoting Tricia♥ [+4Boys]:" THANKS for the actual advice. They did cut their top teeth And slept through last night until 6 am, ... [snip!] ... 8:30am. It was nice and refreshing for all of us. Hopefully it lasts. I did try an ounce larger bedtime bottle also. We'll see."
Quoting Mama❍Moon:" sorry I didn't mean you in particular! Sometimes babies need or want more than what our bodies can give ... [snip!] ... years! But hope to continue past a year with this my last baby. I don't want to go past 2 years again, I may lose my marbles. "I 100% believe in baby led solids. Be it 4m to a 2 years I believe that when babies pick up food and eat it, than they are ready for solids. And your body should (being you produce milk "normally") should adjust accordingly.

"Though I do disagree with the "no harm from a little food" I personally know many kids who had severe food allergies from the early introduction of solids. And they are finding out that introducing wheat in the first year can lead to gluten intolerance's due to humans inability to properly digest grains. Up until 4-6 months the babies gut is open because with breastmilk the body absorbs whole proteins. If food is introduced before the gut is closed the reaction can be the development of a serious food allergy. Which leads to child-led solids. Meaning if the baby can eat it themselves then likely their bodies are ready for the food. If the adult is spoon feeding the child, it is very hard to tell if the babies body is ready. Also in recent studies finger fed babies shwo no incidences of obesity in toddler hood.

Quoting Mama❍Moon:" while I don't disagree, I just had issues with BLW and not introducing soon enough with my second son. ... [snip!] ... because of an upset tummy, or constipation. When you introduce slowly from 4-6 months it encourages healthy eating habits."Pretty much everyone in my family has ASD, which comes with a multitude of sensory issues. Trust me whatever age you start solids will not lead to sensory issues, if they have then they do, if not they don't. Sensory issues come from how the brain processes sensory information, they can not be given to someone.

Quoting Mama❍Moon:" I think you are talking about a sensory processing disorder which I'm not referring too, as food is his only issue. Perhaps food aversion is a better term to describe it. "Its not only SPD, there can be a whole range of sensory issues. Not all sensory issues are SPD. Food and texture aversions can be from sensory processing issues. It depends though on the type of aversion, and the age of the child (because if its a toddler, most of them have an aversion to food)

Her doctor doesn't worry about it but WIC swears there is something wrong with her. The only way I can get her to eat bread is if I load it in jelly and that is just ick!!! lol

Quoting Mama❍Moon:" ok thanks, I'll look into it. I did around that time but that was a couple years ago. And you know recently he's on this kick where I have to cut off all the tags on his shirts... "EEK!!! Tags are so itchy! lol

You know how in nature animals know not to eat things that will hurt them? I wonder if our babies and kids are the same way.

"My daughter is like that too. We ALL have sensory issues to a degree. You know that nails on a chalkboard feeling? For me its touching wet wool. A ton of things that make me CRINGE. When it becomes SPD is when it interferes with your life. Like I have a friend who HATES the feeling of change, she will leave her coin change at the store because she can't touch it, she gets anxious when it gets close to touching it. What may feel nice to someone can really even be painful to others. My daughter has some sensory issues like your son does, but she doesn't have SPD (that we know of yet). Oh and she started on early solids because I was not as knowledgeable at the time.

She won't drink orange juice (hurts her tummy and gives her runny poops) but oranges don't and she eats those like no tomorrow
