Glucose Test

posted 27th Jan
I take my glucose test in the morning. Diabetes runs pretty heavily on both sides of my family. Not sure if that matters with GD at all, but it's definitely been a concern of mine for a little while now. Hopefully I'll only have to do this ONCE! I really think one of the worst things is having to fast from midnight until after my appointment though, cause LO's got me eating like I'm a bottomless pit! Wish me luck mama's!

No worries til after the test results.   Good luck..is this the first test or second test..if its the first and you fail you could still pass the second one, its what happened to my friend both times for her she failed the first but passed the second.

This will be my first test. I'm going to be 29 weeks, which I thought was a little late. And thank you. (: I'm sure I'll be fine, but it's just one of those things that you hope and pray you don't get, ya know? Especially with the way I've been eating. lol

Don't worry mama! Diabietes run heavily on both sides of my family as well. In both my maternal grandparents and both my paternal grandparents. I passed my glucose test no problems. They didn't make me fast for mine.

He told me to not eat or drink anything other than water past midnight. Makes sense because of sugar intake, I just don't like being told I can't eat. lol.

Mine was also done mid day lol. I was only allowed to drink water and was allowed to eat a bagel with peanut butter for breakfast and a peanut butter sandwich for lunch.

Lol maybe I should have scheduled one for a little later! Mine's at 8:30 so I don't think it would be wise for me to sneak a little breakfast. As much as I know I'll want to. But I'm not doing ANYTHING to mess up my test results!

This is my 6th pregnancy and with my other 5 they told me not to eat anything the night before and that day. Went in lst month and they sid Oh we are going to do glucose test. I said well I ate breakfast. They told me then it doesn't matter anymore. Well the first time ever my levels were high and they scheduled me the dreadful 3 hour tests. It was AWFUL! But only because of the wait. In the end I suppose my levels turned out good because they never called me back as they said they would. Just relax. Even if your first screening is too high or borderline, you may have nothing to worry about

I have noticed on here that some OB let you eat and some dont. I had to fast for 10hrs before..which most of it was spent sleeping so it didn't bug me. I am GD..I knew I would be. Oh well.

Yeah my doctor's very old fashioned. He does everything by the book, so maybe that's why he won't let me eat. I'm not stressing the test, It's just been in the back of my mind for a little while. Hopefully tomorrow clears it all up!

I kinda have that feeling, but I really do think it's because so many people in my family have diabetes. At least if I do have it, my mom will be able to help me completely since she's got type 1 diabetes. It's definitely a reassuring feeling knowing there's someone here that goes through it everyday to help me if need be.
