I didnt either I think they just started doing that... in my state anyway. They will write you a ticket for an expired carseat. I think it is dumb as long as nothing is missing or broken what is the issue? What if it was never used and still in brand new condition but out of date? Someone did not think all this through apparently when they decided to make the expire.

And most infant seats expire about 3 years after the build date.

ya i just found that out right now
but that is true as long as its in good condition shouldnt b a problem cus those things are expensive

oh well its a good thing im not gona use my sons car seat like my mom wanted to cus it's about 3yrs old now.

Most carseats only have the manufacture date, all the ones I've had don't specifically say when they expire. You will need to read the manual to find out but its generally 5yrs after the manufacture date.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say the car seat techs DID think it through, and did extensive research to determine the expiration dates.............

But who knows, that's just me being logical and smurf.

Ummm stuff breaks down even if not used. And it has been a thing manufacturers have been doing for at least 8 yrs now.
