My 4 yr old would love to have his own iPad, but Ill get one before he ever does. I feel he is just too young to be as responsible with it as I would like.

If we are going to assume that all parents that buy their kids iPads neglect them and allow them unlimited access, then lets just be fair and make it all parents that buy any electronics in general.

I think even saying most is an assumption. Maybe the majority of parents YOU know parent that way but I know plenty who dont and the majority of those parents im involved with dont parent that way. It wasnt a fair statement to make at all.

Why are you still trying to justify your ASS-umptions?

My son does not get into anything he shouldn't, he uses all the apps he wants as long as I approve them because I do have a password. He also can skype with the family since we are away from them and it's easier than having to get my comp each time.

My sons classroom has iPads. Every child in the class has one. Next year every child in the district from kindy to hs will have one.

Pssshttt I wish. The school districts in Chicago tend to be pretty smurf-tastic.

He just got his for Christmas, everyone else in the house has one, and he has his own apps, and an otterbox on it just in case. I think he's pretty responsible with it.

My son is more hands on. As requested by his Occupational therapist he is allowed 1 hr of games on the iPad or Innotab to work on his fine motor skills. Then on top of that he gets 30 minutes of non-games or non-learning related thing that we aren't just sitting there working on things.

Amazing how technology has changed in the school system. My MIL is a middle school math/science teacher and specializes in integrating technology into the classroom. Its amazing the things her class can do and does do with all this information.

This! I just now got the new Kindle Fire and I'm 23! I guess I'm just not into electronics for adults or kids. Oh well.
