re: What punishment would you give...

I would be a little more concerned if he got into any of the Ajax, honestly... And I would be kicking myself in the ass for leaving it in his reach. But I would make him help clean it up, go to bed, and take away the ipad for the night.

Uhh no they aren't. They have all kinds of learning apps & fun games for kids you can get on there.

The games on the Ipad are generally educational too, and a hell of a lot cheaper than paying $25 a game like for the innotab. I guess I don't see it as that big of a deal, there are parental controls and such.

true that.

I guess I'm old school though, still wouldn't get my young child his own electronic device.

I was too pissed to wait for him to clean it up, I did it already. His iPad is what he loves the most...

This just pisses me off so much because I have been praising him for doing so well in school (he has exceed basically in all subjects) and now I have to punish him.

My 3 year old has an iPod has since she was two. I really dont understand what the big deal is. Its my money and if I choose to buy an "expensive" electronic device for my child then so be it.

Meh my kid has a leap pad those games are effing expensive. We are getting him a tablet soon since he's still on mine all the time. What does it matter if her kid has an iPad.

Personally I'd be pissed too, 5 years old is old enough to know better than to dump out smurf like that. Id make him clean it, express my displeasure and likely take away his tablet for the night. All my kids have tablets, it helps making writing and other fine motor activities fun. Dont really care who thinks it's extravagant, we can afford it and make sure they are taken care of. Not your place to judge where my money goes.

Actually they come with $60 worth of free downloads, and to me that's more than enough for a child that young! I-products are meant for older, more responsible people. I guess I was just raised differently. Kids need to be outside and not on electronics. To each their own. My bad for asking a question.

Lol, OP snapped her crayons because her sons father was giving the boy a used Ipad and being too cheap to buy him a brand new one....

Thank you! That he has 1 expensive toy doesn't mean he is spoiled.
