Is it just me or...

Do most other moms (in real life- not on BG) annoy you all, too? I have such a hard time making friends and I can't help but find most women exceptionally annoying! We'll hang out... but it always turns out that we have nothing in common, so we just talk about our kids the whole time... which is okay, I guess, but I always feel like it ends up being competitive eventually! Ugh. I feel like I'm socially broken or something, lol. I don't like sitting around talking about nothing but my kids all day long and what you're making off Pinterest for teacher's appreciation day. Am I just socially weird??

I don't have many friends either, i have my sister and my bff of 12 years ads that's it for female friends

No I'm socially awkward too. I've always had trouble keeping friends. But I do love pinterest lol

Hahaha me, too. I just meant that there was nothing else to talk about besides that. Believe me... I get my crafting on. Lol

I don't really know other moms outside bg. None of my friends have kids.

I don't have many friends either, two really good ones I talk to/hang out with at least every other day and maybe 3 more I talk to often. It's honestly just a lot of effort to build a friendship so I keep my pool kind of small

Me too, but I don't care for pinterest.


Most of the time I cannot keep friends is because there is nothing more I love talking about other then political issues. Most moms I am around(military) do not agree with me or have no idea what is going on in this country. Needless to say, its hard to make a friend.
I don't care too much about parenting topics and I certainly do not give a rats ass about Kim and Kanye Wests baby or whatever else is interesting to SAHMs who do nothing but watch tv.

I'll just stick to books that make me even more incredibly awkward lol.

My best friend has a child, but I try to push the "parenting world" out of my brain otherwise we would NOT be friends. It is very hard sometimes... I just hate the way she "parents" or lack there of...

Everyone has their different ways of doing things so I just try and push that out of my head so I can actually have friends lol

I do hope you're talking about a specific group of people and not generalizing all SAHM's..... lol

Ahhh yes. That's a hard one. Have you had to cut ties with friends because you don't want your kids to hang out yet?? I have one friend who I can only have "girls nights" with because her son is a little jerk and it's due to the way she parents. Every time our kids would hang out, my son would come home with an attitude or crying because the kid was mean, etc.

I'm the same way. The thought of trying to make "mommy friends" gives me anxiety, lol.

I basically have my sister and my 2 bff's from high school, and then a group of online mommy friends that I talk to and that's my social circle.

Yeaaahhh that's how my best friend's daughter is lol She is a B R A T.
So we only really have girl's nights, when we have had play dates her daughter is just a terror.
Soooo I always make up excuses as to why we can't have a playdate lol

Not generalizing but its seems like every SAHM I know is all about TV. I'm a SAHM, I think I only watch an hour of TV a day and its usually the news.  

Maybe part of it is being a single mom and part of it is being a working mom, but I seriously feel downright anti-social and like I'm never going to make friends.

When I was younger, I had a whole social circle and we'd hit the karaoke bar circuit literally 5 nights a week. The only nights off from karaoke were Sunday and Monday.   And then I got pregnant and couldn't hang out in smoke filled bars anymore. Shocker, right? Ironically, after I stopped going, the group broke up and all went their separate ways.

But the moms in this area are all in their 30s-40s, so they treat me like I'm still a little kid at 27.   I have NOTHING in common with my son's classmates' moms. I have TWO friends at his taekwondo class. One of which I went to high school with. And really they're just people I talk to while at TKD. We don't hang out beyond that or even have each other's phone numbers.

I have a whole group of BG mamas that I relate to better and it's easier to meet them in my situation.

I'm not a SAHM but my doctor told me to stop working at 30 weeks. I catch a couple episodes of Full House or Boy Meets World (Hahahaha they are the only show that I find acceptable for my son while he's running around, and not too mind numbing for me) while I'm folding laundry. But that's it. There is no time for TV.. too much to be done. I never liked reality shows anyway, though. Maybe if I did I'd find time for them. Most SAHM's I know are total superwomen, though. I don't know how they do it...
