I'm really socially awkward, so I don't make friends easily. Luckily my best friend has kids and is really weird like me so it works. I have one other mom friend that I don't see as much since I moved. That's about it. I just don't try and make friends.

Being a working mom definitely puts you in a different category, I think. It makes it hard.

I'm also completely terrified of having to make friends with my son't class mate's mothers. I'm young, tattoo'ed and I work full time. A lot of 30-40something mom's don't receive that well. I feel like I've lost a lot of confidence over the past few years! I used to joke that I would walk into my son's classroom and turn those PTA bitches on their asses, but I don't feel quite so confident anymore.. in fact, I'm horrified! Lol

Same here. I'm not as confident as I used to be. But there are a lot of factors that play into that. My son's father was verbally/emotionally abusive to me the entire year we were together and that took me down quite a few notches. And then I gained like 45lbs with my son and here I am 6 years later and one more kid and I still haven't lost that weight back. So I'm struggling with my body image on top of everything else. Literally the ONLY reason I even have an SO and another child is because I met him in 2004 when I still had it goin' on.   He was one of my managers back then. Lol. We reconnected years later.

I don't see anything wrong with TV but I went to a mom group and the only thing the ladies talked about was the newest episode of this and that or their favorite shows Teen Mom and Army Wives lol. I couldn't keep up with all that , its so awkward lol.

I have the same issue, my only friend with a kid is my SIL all of my other friends don't have kids. I feel like other moms always turn it into a competition. My mom works with a girl who's DD is a month younger than mine and she constantly brags if her DD is doing something before mine, or gets defensive if DD does something first, it's annoying as hell.

I think I'd rather stab myself than go to a mom group... hahaha. I'd rather just take DS to the park and see who talks to me, I guess. Lol! Which can be super weird all on its own! We went to the park the other day and this mom came up to me and was talking to me about how rambunctious her children were, and that I'd better get ready for that seeing as though I'm about to have another ( ). Then her kids come up and her son starts going "MOM! Charlie said the "D" word!" and she goes "Ahhh.. shhhh! I don't even know what that means..." and then both kids started repeating, over and over and over, "You know! D-I-C-K!! D-I-C-K, D-I-C-K!"


I couldn't help but laugh and silently thank God that they weren't mine... hahaha

Well she just has special little darlings, doesn't she? No wonder she wishes the same for you. Misery loves company.  

I just read thru this topic and it seems like the people who feel most judged are the people who do the most judging of others. Maybe that's why some of you have a hard time making or keeping other mommy friends.

I have 3 BFFs and we are close knit and usually don't socialize much outside of our group. I'm picky about my friends & these girls are lifelong friends. I'm always open to meeting new people, but those 3 girls will always be there.
