Is this true?? Assistance question...

posted 27th Jan
DH told me tonight that he has heard people at work talking about getting assistance for their car insurance from the government...I told him he must be mistaken, b/c I have never heard of that. But he is convinced thats what they said. This personally doesnt affect me either way, b/c we'd never qualify even if it was such a thing. But curiosity has gotten the best of me....So have you ladies ever heard of this?? THANKS!

I've never heard of it. maybe it's a special program that is financed through that particular county through like donations or a thrift store income etc. that'd be my only guess.

idk, I know here in Hawaii if you get SSI you qualify for them to help you with car insurance but it's bare minimum...

Thats what I was thinking, that if it is so its some kind of "extra special program". I have friends that have daycare or housing or food assistance, but none of them have ever mentioned anything about car insurance.

In PA they help you with gas money but someone like a boss has to sign for it and you have to send papers in weekly and its only like 20cents a mile. Not worth it. I did it when I went back to school for my associates.

I would imagine there must be a program people certainly shouldn't have to pay for anything except maybe their smart phones and coach purses.

I work for the texas workforce commission, and yes, here there is assistance or "scholarships" for basically anything depending on the circumstances.

We're on cash aid & foodstamps right now, but I've never heard of them paying for car insurance or utilities.... That would have helped last year when dh got laid off.

Around here I know if you live in income based housing they will give you a check every month to go towards your utilities... So i have heard of that, but only in that circumstance. I just cant imagine that the government would pay for car insurance...
