Being gay isn't a lifestyle...

You can't change your sexuality.
So you're basically saying you would want your kids to PRETEND not to be gay, so you wouldn't have to deal with it.

No, I'm saying to resist homosexual urges, not for MY benefit, for theirs, so that we can be together in Heaven.

I am by no means trying to change your stance, but are you aware that there are actual medical conditions (not saying being gay is a condition so don't get riled up) that cause a person's hormone glands to function as though they're the opposite sex? This condition usually starts at a very young age and people often find themselves feeling as though they are in the wrong body and/or are attracted to the same sex. As a Christian, I find it hard to believe that god would create people and intentionally damn them. Like I said, your opinion is your own, and it's one I used to share. Knowing what I know now, I can't believe that being gay is a sin anymore then women who aren't submissive are going to hell.

I know that exists, and to be honest, I'm not God and idk why that is. All I can do is pray that His will be done. God knows what he is doing.

One thing I also believe is that God lets us face trials so that when we do obey His law, we are set up for extra blessings. I.e. Jobe.

To be honest, as an atheist, I wouldn't adopt to a Christian couple because of this line of thinking.

Totally off topic but whatever.

Yeah, I believe that, too, but I also think that most of the damnation we all claim comes from us and not from God's mouth. My mom was raised by an assemblies preacher who believed movies are sinful, pants are sinful, laughing was sinful, etc... She is convinced Catholicism is a cult and can pull scriptures that support that opinion. Most scripture can be used to support any opinion if someone tries hard enough. I'm not saying you're wrong, but I think we have to entertain the thought that there's a lot we don't know for sure. I totally respect you for sticking to your guns and not screaming hellfire and damnation.

Screaming hell fire and damnation is not the way to help anybody, I don't feel. And yes, there is a lot we can't possibly understand right now. For those things, I just pray, because Idk and I'm not going to pretend I do. But God knows, so we can leave it in his hands.

Difference here is that you won't get questioned for this form of thinking ;)

You don't think so?
Atheists are disliked more than gay people.

By who?
As Christians we are supposed to hate the sin, not the sinner.
I know you're an atheist, but I don't dislike you in the least.

Every single study that has ever looked at the issue has revealed massive amounts of bigotry and prejudice against atheists in America. The most recent data shows that atheists are more distrusted and despised than any other minority and that an atheist is the least likely person that Americans would vote for in a presidential election. It's not just that atheists are hated, though, but also that atheists seem to represent everything about modernity which Americans dislike or fear.

The most recent study was conducted by the University of Minnesota, which found that atheists ranked lower than "Muslims, recent immigrants, gays and lesbians and other minority groups in 'sharing their vision of American society.' Atheists are also the minority group most Americans are least willing to allow their children to marry." The results from two of the most important questions were:

This group does not agree with my vision of American Society:

Atheists were put at 40%. Gays were 23%.

I would dispprove if my child wanted to marry a member of this group:
Atheists were 48%. Over Muslims, which was 33%.

Wow that'd cray cray. Not saying the study is wrong. But the results are surprising to me. I don't hate anybody based on their religious views. Don't agree with other religions, but don't hate. It's not how we're supposed to be. And pushing people away is not any way to help a person.

Pfft. I've been told I should be deported, killed, that someone wouldn't piss on me if I was on fire...I shouldn't have children.

All because I'm an open atheist. I'm not even a militant one; I just don't believe in religion and associate myself with atheism.

It's sad we live in a world filled with so much hate. I used to be an atheist before I had kids, but I never had hate in my heart like that.
