Infant carrier carseat/how big is/was your 4 month old

posted 27th Jan
Well my son is now 5 months old and at his 2 month appointment he was 23 inches and at his 4 month appointment a month ago he was 26 and a half inches they didnt believe he was that tall so they came back in the room and remeasured to make sure they measured right. He was indeed 26 and a half inches long. 90 percentile for height. And for the infant carrier seat it goes up to 29 inches and 22 lbs he was 16 pounds so I wasnt too worried about him outgrowing the seat weight wise. But my question is when did your lo get to big for the infant carrier carseat and how big was your lo at 4 months height wise.

Also I do know even when he does outgrow the infant seat that he will need to remain rearfacing, I know all about that and am fulling prepared to delay the front facing process for as long as the seats allow me to do so. I am in no rush to front face. I just want to know about infant carriers and when you decided to use the regular rear facing seat because your lo got to big for the carriers.

I was really dumb with my first. I can't remember the exact inches that he was but he was and is in the 97th percentile and was too tall for his infant see at 8 mos and so I in my stupidity thought that meant that he'd be fine in a forward facing seat which we put him in when he turned 9 mos......don't follow my example of course. With my third he is a little shorty and doesn't weigh very much but last year when he turned 1 we decided to get a seat for him that he could stay rearfacing in since he was 19 lbs and would soon be beyond our seat's 20 lb limit so we got him the britax boulevard 65 and absolutely love it!

DD still has room in hers when we moved her to a convertible, but we also had one with higher weight and height limits. They have a carrier now that will last most kids until at least two if you're not ready to give up the portability yet and don't want to babywear.

My son turns five months old in a couple days and is 20 lbs, 28 inches. He's has been off the growth charts. I switched him into a convertible rear facing car seat at Christmas. Just make sure your child is rear facing until they are 35 lbs (new recommendations in Michigan anyways)

My baby is small and will be in her infant seat for a looooong time. I know people who have out their babies in convertible seats from birth.
Aura can go in her next carseat now but the capsule is just easier. The weight limit on her carseat is 10kgs I think and she's 5.6kgs which is like 12lbs and 24inches. She's almost 6months.

Yeah I know Im going to make sure hes rear facing for as long as the seats allow me to for his size. And jeeze how big was he at birth? mine was 20 inches and 7 lbs and at his 4 month appointment he was 26 and half inches and 16lbs... where has my tiny baby gone hes just sooo big now lol.

DD was around 23 in and 17 lb. I switched her to a convertible seat then (still RF) she was getting too heavy to carry the carseat.

Yeah i thought about switching because he is getting too heavy to carry now in the carseat too. But he'd be heavier in the store if i had to carrier him in there and hes not stable enough in sitting to go in the grocery carts unsupported by something. (hes getting there)

birth weight means next to nothing as far as future weight though, my almost 19 lb baby at 12 months was born weighing 9 lbs 10 oz and even now at nearly 2 years he's only almost 24 lbs.
