If you swear...either in front of your kids or not.. do you screen their music? I try not to swear in front of my kids.. but it happens. They're going to hear it. They see it on TV.. I'm just not overly strict.

Well.. I LOVE that Thrift Shop song.. and downloaded it on my phone. haha! omg.. oops. Well;..... radio version... must blip out 2/3 of the song. Real version is really bad. Made me stop to think.... my kids are 8 and 10.... I have to start thinking about what I'll let them listen to, watch etc... more.

My oldest said.. eh.. well.. not like we've never heard it before. I kinda agree.. but.. that one might've been a little more than I'd like them to be singing.

i wasn't censored as a kid. i was taught that its adult language though and would get in trouble for saying it. i mean if some one is cursing like a sailor around my kid then i'm going to ask them to tone it down a notch and dd loves the thrift shop song but says "this is freaking awesome"instead of smurfing

I censor racial, sexual, and violence things from music, tv, and myself. I do swear in front of DD though, not excessively or to her though.

With the older kids (5,7,9) we use music as an opportunity to talk about different topics.

  I just realized that one day I'm going to have to worry about this stuff with my baby.

My mom never censored for my brother and I and I know the language we use now   but I don't plan to censor for my kid.... They'll hear it eventually. Forbidding things just makes them more appealing. And in all fairness I didn't cuss at all till I joined the navy.

No kids yet... well except the one in my tummy but I personally wouldn't want ny kids hearing swearing until they are old enough to understand that its not something that is meant to be repeated although I realize that unless I completely shelter them they are going to hear it. I've just seen way to many kids swearing in places where swearing is completely inappropriate (Church, crowded pubic places ect.) because they don't have the understanding adults do. Also when I waitressed I seen way too many children than I would like to admit calling their mom a bitch for not giving them something they want and in my opinion for a two year old to know what that word means it must be something they hear on a regular basis at home and the behavior is there fore totally the fault of the parent not the child.

Cylus' favorite show is Chicago fire. Omg some of that stuff makes my stomach churn but He lovessss it. I was the same way when I was younger though. My favorite show was ER

oh, I didn't think about that. I definitely do. I guess I don't consider those swear words... those are hate words and not allowed in my house.

Same, I wasn't either & it was known that if I repeated any "bad words" I would get in trouble.
