Breast Pumps & Bottles

posted 27th Jan
I am really really considering breast feeding this time to save money but I will also have to pump because I go to school. My question is what is a good breast pump that isn't gonna to cost me an arm and a leg and what type of bottles did those of you who breastfeed used who also used a bottle.

The thing with pumps, especially if you'll be pumping a lot is you get what you pay for....

buy a used medela pump, their expensive new, but if you find a GOOD used one, you wont pay that much. i bought a first years from walmart for $60 bucks and just like the reviews said.. it lasted 3 months and then stopped working.

I bought a The First Years MiPump Dual Electric and it was amazing. They're cheaper than Medela.

Also, Dr. Browns bottles.

Medela is BADDASS. I would highly recommend one. You can find the pumps used in good condition on craigslist. You can boil the actual pump parts if you want to save money and if you are cool with it. Otherwise, but the pump cheap and buy new parts for it!

Do you have health insurance? I got mine almost completely covered through my health insurance. It cost me like 94 dollars after all was said and done! I would highly reccomend the medela freestyle!

My health insurance only covers breast pumps if and while the baby is in the NICU and under special circumstance when they come home. (I have TRICARE)

Yessss. I loved my Lansinoh! I used that for the most part. (It wasn't as good as Medela, but it does it's job!) I would get that one. If you go to Target now, you can buy some diapers and wipes and get a $5 giftcard for each box of wipes, you can use that towards the pump since you will need wipes anyway.

The only negative thing I've read about the Lansionoh pumps is that they are noisy. Is this true? I mean I wouldn't care if it was loud because it'll just be me home when I'm pumping most of the time, I'm just wondering.
