Keep her in your thoughts

We just got a call that SO's cousin Erica is in the hospital. They think she had a stroke.
She's only 30.

Please keep her in your thoughts/prayers. Also keep her wife Theresa in your thoughts too. She's not taking this well at all.  

One of my best friends had a stroke last spring at age 39. She was in really bad shape by the time she got to the hospital but she's made a huge amount of progress in her recovery, and they've said that her age has a lot to do with that. The younger you are, the more elasticity you still have in your body and brain, and your chances for recovery are better. Best wishes for your SO's cousin.

TBH, I didn't know people so young could have strokes. I thought it was something only for older people.

My friend has a history of health issues and bad habits, so while it was certainly not expected, we all kind of saw it in hindsight.

She was alone for 3 days before she was found and when I first saw her at the hospital she looked like a corpse. If we had waited another hour to get the police to break into her house to check on her, she would have been gone. Now she has some paralysis but she can walk and her personality is exactly the way it always was. She is still very much herself. We were very lucky. Hopefully because your SO's cousin is so young, she will make an even fuller recovery.

it has been nearly a year since she had her stoke she was 5 when she had it

she is still struggling to do the things she could do before the stroke but shes getting there

Do they know why she had it?

they think it was due to the amount of seizures she was having
