Earrings For Babies?
posted 27th Jan
Just wondering about getting a infants ear's pierced. Where do you stand on the subject?
If you agree, what age would be the best?

i got my daughter done at 4 months old .....not hard to take care of but she's 14 months old and keeps pulling them out really annoying

I think when they ask for them and can take care of them it is fine. So when they are 4-6 depending on their understanding and such.
DD has been asking to get her ears pierced since she could talk, I might get them for her after she is 4 or for Christmas or something.

3 months is best.

I think once they're old enough to say "I'd like my ears peirced" then cool. But never before. It's unnecessary and looks tacky.

As soon as by law they can get them, so 3 months I think it is.
Its not hard to keep earrings clean on anyone and certainly not on a little baby. I am bringing lo for her first bday. I have been slacking on it, lol and my 4 yr old too. My oldest was just 3 months with hers, and she has 2 holes in each ear now.

I don't personally agree with it. To me i doesn't make a baby any cuter. Also our daughters have my sensitive skin, I can't wear certain jewelery without breaking out. Our daughters can get pierced ears when they are old enough to take care of it, probably teen years.
If people insist on doing newborn/infant ears then should be done bu professional with hallow needle, no guns. Professionals are not in the mall. Pediatricians can also do it.

I am only against it because some people (myself included) have allergic reactions to some of the piercing studs. I am going to wait until my DD can talk before getting hers done.

my mom told me she had mine done at 6 weeks. i dunno how accurate that is, but it was 21 years ago. i think my sister was around 2 or 3 months when she got hers done.

I got DD's done around 5 months.

I didn't get mine done until I was 19. I don't wear them a lot but every once in a while. My sister got her oldest daughter's done as a baby but later took them out and waited for her daughter to asked for them.
I have really decided one way or another. I did not know a doctor could or would do it. I do know I would never do it without researching the person doing it.
Thanks everyone for you input. It is helpful.

when they are old enough to ask for and care for them.

im just waiting until she asks me to.
i think babies with earrings in are cute. and i have no problem with parents getting their child's ears pierced so young. I got mine done when i was 1 month old
i also have very sensitive skin and can only wear pure white gold. im afaraid she'd be the same way.also, another reason why im waiting.
