Cerclage + Bathing?
posted 27th Jan
At my post-OP checkup, I was told no bathing during the recovery period---I can shower for hours, but no baths. She said to talk to my doc about the baths as he might be okay with it after I healed.
I keep FORGETTING!
The wine, sex, etc i enjoy to relax are all off the table, but I was really sad when she said no baths! Gimme SOMETHING!
If you had a cerclage, did your doc allow baths?
If so, how long after surgery? I'm 5w post-op.
I'm gonna write it down so I remember to ask my doc next Friday.

I'm not losing length and all is good so far.
I'm hoping my doc lets me. I miss bubble baths and good books while DH puts DS to bed at night. We take turns so I had developed an awesome "me time" routine for my nights off. An episode of Bones or True Blood playing on the laptop (witting on the toilet) and a cup of herbal tea, a bubble bath, and then pampering my skin and slipping between the sheets for bed.
Not nearly as awesome without the bath

Mine told no bathing too. Well until the middle of the 3rd tri. But I just didn't do it till I was in labor at home trying to feel better lol.

I hope everything goes well and soon you will be sinking into a warm bath i was so happy once i got the okay again. we never realize how important those baths are for destress, relaxation, and some minor pain relief until we do not have them

Just curious... how did your doctor decide to give you a cerclage? And how far along were you when they decided to do it?
Reason i ask is because my ob told me that after my 14 weeks mark he would start checking my cervix at each appointment...but he never has. I am assuming they checked via u/s at my last appointment when they did the anatomy scan. He has not said anything to me about any of it though and it is sort or making me worry as I/baby gets bigger and I can feel all the pressure down there. They did my u/s at 20 weeks and I will be 25 weeks at my next appointment.

We knew I'd need it before I got pregnant. In lost my last son at 23 weeks.
Mine was placed at 17 weeks. We would have done it earlier but my insurance was a bitch.

I had a LEEP a few years ago and my OB said he was concerned about my cervix being incompetent and that was why we was going to check my cervix at every appointment... and he never has. I just thought is was strange. I guess I need to remind him this week. I know obs are busy and I would hate if something went wrong because something was overlooked.

LEEP doesn't usually effect pregnancy. I'd ask him, but I wouldn't stress about it.

Everything has been going good so far so I am hoping it stays that way.
Hope you heal quickly!

I think it just depends on the doctor. With my first 2 pregnancies, i wasn't allowed baths or swimming. But with my 3rd cerclage pregnancy I was allowed to go swimming and take baths. My restrictions were pretty light last time. I also had an obscene amount of cervix. I'm sure that affected my restrictions.

I was at 5.5 at last measure, so maybe
