2WW!

posted 26th Jan
Well, I did the embryo transfer on Friday now I just have to deal with the dreaded 2 week wait!!

I'm supposed to take it easy but all I want to do is scrub my house, do the laundry, clean the fish tank...all things in the "no no" category but it'll help pass the time!

Baby/sticky dust please?!

Good luck!! I read that you will be a gestational carrier?? If you don't mind me asking, would you be able to explain what is involved and how it is different than a surrogate?? I didn't even know there was something else besides surrogate.

A surrogate is a woman who is blood related to the baby. They typically just inseminate the surrogate and then the woman gives up all (or most) rights to the child when it's born. A gestational carrier is someone who is not biologically related to the fetus at all. We used an egg donor and the husbands sperm to make the embryos. I had moral issues with being a surrogate....I knew I wouldn't be able to give up a baby that was half mine. So I decided on the gestational carrier route!

Surrogacy was big in the 90's but most days it's a gestational carrier. Most people just refer to us as surrogates because it's easier to understand.

Oooooh ok!! Wow that is so incredible and amazing for you to do something like that. Like, you are making their dream come true!! You are a very special person!! As much as I would love to make such a difference in someone's life, I think even if it was not blood related to me it would still be hard for me. Because I would still feel bonded.

Good luck!! And I'm so excited to follow your journey!! So incredible!!
