Swaddle!

posted 26th Jan
I don't like those swaddle sets - whatever you call them.. the ones that are made to shape and have velcro.. blah. I also don't like the regular receiving/swaddle blankets.. They seemed to make my daughter overheat. But I noticed these Aden and Anais baby swaddle blankets .. and several similar ones on etsy that go by Cotton Gauze or Cotton Muslin material...

Have you used either? I saw one mom using one with her baby and I kind of fell inlove with the print and fabric, so I asked her where she got it. When I looked it up I was a little stunned at the price.. which led me to finding cheaper alternatives on etsy.. but still, it's a small fortune.

You could probably get by w/ a hunk of muslin or cotton gauze from the fabric store.

I wonder if the ends would fray without being sewn. Isn't it slightly stretchy? .. I am clueless about cloth/sewing.. lol.

you may be able to get some hemming tape if you don't sew.

I found the Aden and Anais (sp?) brand at TJ Maxx for 12 bucks! Original price, 40$. I bought two 4 packs (I believe there's 4 in each pack). So two for less then the price of one. I love these blankets. Super thin, breathable, perfect for the Arizona heat. I'll be using them for swaddling and a breast feeding cover up (ONLY when I'm around DHs family since they're all uncomfortable with my choice to BF). I was going to get more packs but there were only two boy print packs. I'll be making a trip to another TJs in search for more. I'm also like you and don't like the receiving blankets for swaddling. I use them for burp rags

Muslin is great just stitch witch it. OR target has really thin Circo blankets that stretch my kid is a freaking heater and was cool in those. They're awesome big and great stretch.
