Is my husband a freak of nature?

posted 26th Jan
I have 3 DS and a DD on the way. My 2 oldest are from a previous relationship and my youngest DS and my DD are with my husband. With my DS I had an emergency c-section and my husband wasn't allowed back. With DD I am having a VBAC. Well my husband says that he can NOT see anything that is going on during birth or he will be on the floor. He said he can't cut the cord or anything and he would just prefer to stay up by my head while I'm pushing. I have no idea how to tell my doc that my DH is not going to be willing to cut the cord of his DD or even hold my leg, without my doctor thinking I'm an idiot and my DH is a wussy. He was a combat life safer in Iraq for God sakes but he will pass out his he see's me having a baby? Gah. I'd rather him just be in the waiting room then be in my room acting like a baby.

My grandma was an EMT for a looong time and now can't stand the sight of blood. It happens. Doctors understand.

Bd was a paramedic and when I cut my hand open and had to get stitches he almost passed out.

He said basically its hard to see regularly but when you see something happening to someone you care about its a hell of a lot different.

My husband said the exact same things. Come time to push, he was right there holding my leg and counting and even cut the cord.

Don't give up hope, but be ready for him to actually wuss out too just in case.

My DH didn't look with my a final. He held my leg and pet my head. But as soon as LO came out and was placed on my chest, the nurse had to help him. He turned white and almost passed out. He had to relax with hs head between his legs lol.

Shouldn't it only matter that he's there... who the hell cares if he doesn't watch or cut the cord. What matters is if he's good a father to your children. I don't even want my SO watching... I feel like he'd never see me the same after watching me all stretched out and bloody. So by my head he will be standing.

I was going to say something similar about when it happens to someone you love its a completely different ball game. And the doctors arent going to care.
