Painful zit (TMI)

posted 26th Jan
Okay I have this zit on my cheekbone that is effing killing me. Its of those that is all swollen and red. It had a white head on it this morning so I popped it, but afterwards I could tell there was still something down deeper. I just left it alone all day until this afternoon when it was ready to pop again. Now it's leaking clear fluid, is super swollen, red and very painful. Almost like it's infected. I've had zits like this before. I actually wash my face daily with antibacterial face soap because of it. But the swelling and the pain is driving me crazy. Anybody have any tips to help it heal faster? I put some Neosporin cream on it, but that doesn't help draw out whatever is still in there

Use either peroxide or let toothpaste sit on there for like 10-15 minutes. Then when it has a white head pop it again and the use peroxide immediately after. It'll kill the bacteria.

You'll want to dry it out. Witch hazel, rubbing alcohol, something like that to try it out. You may have to pop it again in a few days when all that comes up to the surface. If you have it, bactine would be great to put on it, it has a numbing agent in it!

A hot rag on there as hot as you can stand. I microwave a wet washcloth for 30 seconds, open fold the other way and another 30 seconds or so and wait until it's cooled enough it cools fast. Repeat that a few times. Over the course of an hour. Try and pop it at that point with clean hands and then apply bactine or antibiotic ointment. I wouldn't put anything else on there since it's an open sore and has already been picked.

If it is leaking clear fluid leave it alone, the skin is trying to heal itself because you damaged it by picking/popping.

I always put some toothpaste on the bad ones.
Just a dab and they are usually 50% better by morning.

You shouldn't have popped it.

For future reference, put a hot, wet washcloth on it until it cools. Repeat, but this time firmly slide it against your skin to gently remove the head.

Don't pick or poke at it. You can scar.

When they come to a head, aren't you supposed to get the pus out? It would be really nasty to just walk around with pus oozing out of my face all day.

squeezing it just pushes a bunch of bacteria back into your pore. The heat from the washcloth gently removes the head and draws it all out onto the washcloth without damaging the surrounding skin.
