Blighted ovum and HCG doubling?
posted 26th Jan
If you had a blighted ovum did your HCG still double for a bit? I went for a ultra sound yesterday around 5w6d and there was just a empty sac... So of course I have been going crazy googling.... Would your HCG still double for a bit? Mine has been 32-115-574-2940-6436 last one being on Thursday the day before my ultra sound...

I'm pretty sure my last loss was a blighted ovum, but I'm not certain of that. It was an early loss, so I never had an ultrasound, but my levels weren't doubling. I know you're worried and I can understand why, but try to keep your chin up.

I just hate that I have to wait 2 weeks not knowing... It just sucks I had 3 healthy pregnancies worry free... Then to have a miscarriage and now not know has been really hard on me.. .... Plus I didn't tell hubby the sac was empty on the ultra sound so he keeps saying "when the baby is here "

Im sorry to hear you're going through this. It may just be too early to see anything but with my blighted ovum my levels doubled and then around 7 weeks they started dropping rapidly.

Mine didn't double or rise at all with my blighted ovum, it was also an early loss at 5 weeks but my HCG level was extremely low, so low that they normally would'nt even count it as a pregnancy but they did an ultrasound and seen the sac, but I had to be monitored for a few days because they said its normal to just see a sac that early so they wanted to make sure I wasn't actually pregnant but I had lots of bleeding also

I've had blighted ovums on 2 different occasions and the first did not miscarry until 8 weeks and the second at 10 weeks, the luteal cyst (I think that's what it's called) may still be providing the hormones so it may be a bit before your body recognizes what's going on.

i had a blighted ovum once and with a blighted ovum ur hcg does increase in the beggining alot and then starts to decrease but you could also not be as far along as u thought cause with this pregnancy i had an ultrasound and according to my last period i would have been 6 weeks but on the ultrasound nothing was there and they said that was not normal for 6 weeks but it turns out i was only 4 weeks and thats why nothing showed up im now 26 weeks so dont give up hope just yet they may just be off on ur due date. .. also with this pregnancy they never saw a fetal pole till i was 6 weeks and 4 days so at 5 weeks 4 days that can be normal
