fuss them selves to sleep? I know when dd is tired... she rubs her eyes, yawns and starts sucking on her thumb. well tonight we have some friends over and i put her down and she was fussing. her eyes were closed, thumb in mouth but she was kicking her legs and crying. not full on crying just fussing with some loud burst here and there. I knew she was tired and was having a hard time sleeping because people were over. In the past i have tried holding her, cradling ext.. she had just eaten and i changed her. my friends girlfriend gave me a death stare because i walked away. once again... she was just fussing like she always does. i explained that she wont fall asleep in my arms or anything else. she said "my kids never cry them selves to sleep" have i been doing something wrong this whole time? is my kid the only one who fusses before sleep? how am i supposed to get her to sleep? if i stay there she stares at me and will not sleep at all. iv tried it!

if she always does this then it must be a security thing for her. She probably does it like I've heard some babies hum themselves to sleep so she's fine. Tell your friend to buzz off

My 6 month old does that. He fusses but he is also wiggling around to get in a comfortable spot. Once he gets that spot it is lights out!

dd does that too! i mean sometimes her loud burst of a scream can sound like shes actually screaming but her eyes are closed, thumb in mouth... i dont know this girl made me feel like such an smurf... i spent like 99.9% of the time with dd trying to get her to quietly go to sleep... when if i just left her to fuss for a min she would have been out hours before she did... grrr...

You know your baby best, don't let anyone tell you how to raise her. Just say thanks but no thanks, I have it under control
