posted 26th Jan
I am so scared to have my baby, Yes I have a supportive family, and my boyfriend/fiance loves me....BUT.....I can't find a job, and my fiance has a baby with another girl so his money goes to her..   I don't qualify for wic, because of I am on my parents insurance...and ugh! I am scared!

I was on my step dads insurance but I also had to apply for medicaid. That's how I got WIC.

my friend whose son is only a few months old had good insurance through her husband's work. she applied for medicaid and got it. then she also got WIC. it doesn't hurt to try! the worst they can say is no. just apply.

Uhm, I have EXCELLENT insurance and I qualified for WIC.
It's about income, not insurance.

Yeah you will definitely qualify fr WIC. If you have no job you will get it for sure. If you get medicaid you automatically qualify, otherwise it goes by your income, which you have none. Thing is, you can probably still get pregnancy medicaid. Most people can get it in addition to insurance. I had Tri-Care through the military and still qualified for pregnancy medicaid. My sister has BCBS and qualified too. It won't cover anything that isn't related to pregnancy, but since you have insurance you don't need it for anything else. Then go get WIC. I never use WIC after my kids turn 1 because I can afford milk and cheese, but it helps that they pay for 8 cans of formula a month. I couldn't afford formula as expensive as it is, without their help.

I was double insured with amazing insurance! I still qualified for wic. Apply you'd be surprised how many people qualify I thought for sure I wouldn't.

Not getting what insurance has to do with WIC? WIC is food vouchers, not medical insurance.

WIC is extremely helpful. Your income is what qualifies you for it not insurance. You can also try getting cash assistance since you cant find a job. They will place you in a place for "employment" and you will have to work 20 hrs a week and get a set amount. Sounds like your childs dad needs to get a better job if he can only support one of his children and not the one that's on the way. There are ways to get what you need and not have to rely on your childs dad when you're pregnant. I had my first child at 18 and in school. good luck.

Breast feed/ cloth diaper/ co sleep

I did all of these things and wouldnt have it any other way...My son really only needed minimal baby things. Plus you get WAY more sleep if you cosleep and breastfeed.

I did these things by choice...but I ended up saving a smurf ton of money which is pretty nice.

Check into medicaid for medical insurance. I couldve qualified for WIC...but all that constant paper work was apparently a big hassel for a friend of mine and I loved BFing anyways. I think they give free pumps tho which is awesome

I was in your position a couple months ago. I was terrified thinking about how I would provide for my baby. I couldnt work because of health problems that made it impossible for me to work in a job that required me to be on my feet for extended periods of time and even though my boyfriend was fantastic and supportive he lost his job and was having trouble finding work. On top of that we where paying rent to live at his parents house but they wouldnt let us live there with a baby. With a little effort we have managed to get everything together with three months to spare. He found an awesome new job, Ive been accepted to collage and we are moving into a new appartment on the 1st. You can do it! I know how it feels to think that nothing is working out but you have time to get it all sorted out but with a little effort you can get it all sorted out before your baby gets here!

even if she breast feeds, she can still get WIC. they give the mommy alot of nutritional foods to eat while BF so that the nutrients are passed on to the baby
