DD hasn't slept in 2 days, I'm loosing my mind!

posted 26th Jan
She has severe eczema but we always keep it moisturized, and usually she'll just fuss at bed time then only wake a few times but she'll get back to sleep eventually but for the last two days she's just cried and cried, I don't know what to do.. I've tried cuddling, rocking, feeding, changing nappys, massage but nothing will settle her and she just cried and cried for hours on end, last night she had teething gel and pamol but nothing settled her, we also have an antihistamine for her itching but that didn't seem to do much either. I'm just stuck, I have no idea what the f to do and this lack of sleep is really getting to me and I just can't do it anymore. Thinking about taking her to the doctors tomorrow if I can find a way of getting there as my cars just shat itself, does this sounds like anything? She's never been this bad she literally won't stop crying when she's in bed

and she had literally not slept at all? or has she slept in spurts? what are you using on her eczema? Some of the lotions that really helped my kids eczema were calendula balm, cold pressed appricot seed oil, cocconut oil, aveeno anti-itch cream, cetaphil for eczema. But if even the antihistamine isn't helping then I'd definitely take her to the doc and find something that will work. My biggest wonder would be if the eczema is triggered by an allergy and if that allergy is finally getting the best of her insides as well.

I was just about to recommend several of the things you mentioned! Also OP, hazelwood necklaces are supposed to help tremendously with eczema. With my kids we used phisoderm baby bath and then any lotion without alcohol. Paying attention to ingredients is VERY key, many "eczema" lotions contain alcohol, which is counterproductive since alcohol dries you out. Also, all of my kids were sensitive to dairy. My son in fact was the worst. He had no hair except a strip down the middle. Our pediatrician called him alligator head   A week after we switched his formula to a non dairy based, he had little stubbles of hair growing.

Oh and coconut oil, you need to get an unrefined virgin. You may have to end up going to a health food store for it. Some Wal Marts sells it, but none near me.

Haha that sounds cute tho! Since we switched her formula her hair is growing back too. She's on Elecare hypo-allergenic formula and I don't give her any foods with dairy in them, I usually just make her foods myself from vegetables however she loves pear, would this be something that could make eczema worse?
Thanks to both of you, I'll keep my eye of for those, but I live in New Zealand so I have no Wal Mart lol

I just checked, the creams do have alcohol in them, think I'll be changing them now! Though they have helped more than the others. I used lavender oil on the eczema on her chest this morning and it's seemed to help more than the creams but I've only used it once, so we'll see. Would coconut oil be a better choice?

Ah, yeah I wasn't paying attention! Pear I don't think could. Though it COULD. You may need to start keeping a diary. My son broke out anytime he ate melon or pineapple he was covered.

I think so. Coconut oil is AMAZING stuff. My youngest was sensitive to it so I couldn't use it with him.
