WWYD? About my cat...

posted 26th Jan
My cat is almost two years old, I've had since he was a baby at maybe 3 months old. He has always seemed to have a sensitive tummy and throws up about once a week. Never any random objects or hairballs, just water and cat food. I have tried switching his foods and still same thing. He acts normal, has all his shots, all that stuff. Well, yesterday he threw up twice in one day which isn't normal for him and now today he has thrown up 4 times in the past 2 or 3 hours. He may have thrown up in other places that I don't know of but I don't think he has. I called the vet and emergency vet visits are $75 (since it is after hours) and $47 regular hours. I don't know if I should wait until Monday or take him tonight? SO and my mom are telling me to wait until Monday but I feel so bad for my kitty :[ I don't know!!!

I guess it's whatever you can afford. If I had the money to take the cat in now I would! because obviously something is not right if he isn't acting himself and throwing up more than usual

is he drinking/eating? or acting strange?

I would take him in honestly. Animals can decline in health FAST. Literally in hours. They are hardwired to not show weakness. It's an instinct to protect them from predators in the wild. They're not going to beg for help like social animals such as ourselves.

Usually if he is still eating and drinking and doesnt seem weak it shouldnt require a vet visit. Some times my cats get an upset tummy like that and it usually doesnt turn into anything major.

He's acting just fine! That's what I don't get.. I thought maybe you would be able to tell a little if he was sick but I can't tell anything until I hear him. I am a little short on money but I do have it if he needs to go, I love him as much as the human parts of my family, he is my baby! The only difference in his behavior is he is acting more lovey.. maybe that means he doesn't feel good?

I always thought that about his other little pukes but now it's turning into everyday and more than once.. Doesn't seem normal.

Maybe just call the vet and ask if they think he should go in? My vet has always said that unless they arent eating or seem weak to just make an apointment during regular hours.

I'd probably go in. I have 3 cats and throwing up 4x in that short of time doesn't sound good!

Hopefully it's something minor but the sooner it's looked at the better!

I did call and pretty much he said better safe than sorry and he can't really tell me what to do without seeing him and that if it were him he'd take his cat in.

maybe you could watch him over night and if he's not better by tomorrow call the vet and just ask what they think

My sisters cat was throwing up a lot and he was very ill! but he also wasn't eating or drinking so really keep an eye on that

Hope he feels better

Yeah, I'll be watching him, I stay up late anyway. He goes and eats and drinks water regularly so it's not that...

My cat has a similar problem I've noticed he doesn't thrpw up as much if I feed him less food more frequently. Like instead of giving him a big bowl give him a few small bowls. Watch him closely if it gets any wprse I would take him in.
