8 month old "overstimulated"?

posted 26th Jan
usually DD just gets mad when you tell her no, redirect, or take something she shouldn't have (occasionally fussing- usually when she has another issue too, i.e. hungry, thirsty, need diaper change, or mostly when tired). well she has been sick since Monday night and her 2nd tooth broke through Wed. so understandably, she's been ultra cranky- today being the worst. well, after trying EVERYTHING, i thought i'd try putting her her bed (a playard playpen) with a bunch of her toys. she's now happily playing while daddy plays his video game. could she have been having too much human contact? MIL and DH were helping me try to calm her down and she just got angrier and angrier. she fussed for about a min and was over it. i feel kinda of bad because she's puny and i feel i should cuddle her but it's making her mad. (she's sleepy and cuddling makes her fight sleep). anyone else's LO get frustrated with everyone you live with?

"HUMAN CONTACT" lol

my dd does not like too much interactions with me holding her and cuddling etc...she pushes me away till I put her down.

She likes to be played with all day but is contenet on her own. But for us if I pick her up to play with her she gets mad and wants down.

My son used to get overstimulated a lot, thank God we lived alone. He had to nurse laying down in the dark to go to sleep most the time.

Keep dangerous things well out of her reach and help her explore everything else safely and then you won't have to say No or take anything off her

it was like she didn't want to be held onto but when we tried to put her in her walker (which she likes 85% of the time), she'd throw a fit. about a month or 2 ago, we started letting her play in the playpen (my parents had her in one at their house and she loved it). i just thought being sick, she'd want to be petted and loved on.

when my lo is sick its worse she hates being touched even more, lol I usually just put her in the saucer or on the floor, or in the playpen to play. Mine loves to look a block books, she will look at one for an hr just all relaxed, if you picke her up she is ok for a second then shoves you away.

When she has something, like my other kids wii remote and I take it from her and say gentle touch (she bangs things on the floor) I give her the old non working remote etc.....so it gives her something in replace to bang.

we always replace things with one of her toys to redirect her. depending on what it is, depends on how long it takes her to drop/throw it in the floor. is your DD 8 months?
