my pup has parvo :(

my 1 year old(literally just turned 1 a couple weeks ago) caught parvo.....I'm so scared I'm gonna lose him but the vet sent him home with meds for pain, antacid and for the bacteria in his stomach..and on top of that they sent him home with an IV bag...I'm so tired and scared for my baby..we used all the money we had for our last bill to pay for the vet visit so I'm going to be even more heartbroken if he doesn't pull through, I hope he will though, he's a strong little guy..

it was VERY nice of the vet to donate the medicine. we wouldn't have been able to afford the visit(at that point before they donated the meds it was over $600 afterwards it came down to $300) and all that they did for him if they also charged us for the pills.....

ugh, okay..I got that out..now lets hope the next couple of days go by quickly and he beats this thing!

Oh goodness. One of my dogs had parvo when sje was 9 weeks old & it was rough ans EXPENSIVE to make it thru but she lived.
We applied for care credit may be you could try that. I sure hope your dog makes it. That is so awful :/

I am so sorry. I will say a little prayer. We had a chocolate lab who was a year old die from parvo. This happened years ago but I remember the vet said to feed him cooked white rice and give him gatorade. It can help if the disease isn't too far advanced. I would give it a try.

yeah, I'm thinking a diet of chicken broth and rice will help but they said that the IV should be enough to keep him hydrated through this all...

I got my fingers crossed for him.

We had a puppy that we got for free out of the paper that ended up having parvo (the place we got him from was a DUMP) we spent over $500 dollars for the vet. They isolated him and everything. He lived but when we got him back he was traumatized. He would wake up the middle of the night just panicking and carrying on like someone was beating him! It was awful. But he got through it and was fine after a while. We ended up having to give him to a friend cuz we moved   but it was totally worth the money to save his life, he's a great dog.

and he didn't make it. I did everything I possibly could to save him and he still ended up passing away....I'm beyond heartbroken at this point.

thank you..I'm so distraught. I did everything I could, DH took him to the vet, I gave him the IV and his meds..I just don't know what I did wrong.

You didn't do anything wrong hun. Sometimes stuff like that just happens. It was out of your hands.
