nursing or formula? I don't know anything about formula but perhaps she needs a different kind?

My baby did the same thing. We were given a swaddle wrap and it works wonders. I'd buy one and see if it helps. They're used to being in the dark, confined and warm. A few days later my baby was better at sleeping 2-4 hours at a time

I tried nursing but couldn't get her to take. I was so worn out after delivery I caved and allowed the hospital to give her formula. I am trying to pump to get her to take it but she doesn't like it

try getting her to latch on again. That'll keep her quiet, lol.

SO thinks she just hates her bed. She is in it right now sleeping tthough. The only time she did calm last night is when she was in bed with us. However I refused to allow her to sleep there. I didn't care if I got no sleep, she was not sleeping in our bed. Too scared of SIDS to consider letting her ever sleep there.

take her clothes off of her and talk to her to keep her up during the day
it worked for me.. it took a couple of weeks to get her to stay awake and she got the hint to stay up but thats all i can think of atm

During the day, keep it bright and noisy. At night keep the lights dim and it quiet. If you need to talk to her at night, use a soft whispery voice so she knows that this is quiet time. It really helped with my youngest. He was up all night because he has his days and nights confused.

my daughter is 13 days old and ever since we brought her home she hasn't slept at night. she sleeps all day and its impossible to keep her awake. she screams and cries all night if i or my fiance isn't holding her. last night i tried to sleep upstairs in my bed with her in the bassinet and that was a disaster. she ended up sleeping in my fiance's arms all night and he got like no sleep. so i know how you feel :/

This was my first DD all the way. The first 3 weeks she did this every night. The ONLY way me and BD got any sleep at all was we agreed to take 4 hour "shifts" at night so one of us would "try" to sleep on the couch but ended up staying up all night with her while the other one got rest for a few hours and switch off.

The first night is usually crazy like that. They are usually exhausted from the hospital and all the tests prior to being sent home. I hope your second night goes smoother.

It did. She was a wonderful baby. She does appear to have her days an nights mixed up though. Yesterday she slept most of the day then got up when it was night. However I wasn't too tired to take care of her. She woke up about every 2 to 2 1/2 hours. She spent most of the night in her crib and some in her bouncer. This morning she napped in her swing. Today she has repeated the process. Been sleeping almost non-stop since noon, however I have fed and changed her three times already. But she is starting to stir now. I figure she will wake up soon and it will be play time for us.

Glad it went better. Don't worry too much about her sleeping A LOT! Newborns do that. There is no need to keep her awake too long during the day, unless nights continue to be an issue. Babies grow best during their sleep and need a ton of it   I just remember worrying about how much my babes slept, which I totally shouldn't have. They are awesome sleepers now.

However she has had many bowel movements since she was born. I don't know if that had something to do with it. "</blockquote>

Be careful not to overstimulate her.
